first of all hello to all .. im new here and hope i will enjoy my stay here and learn many things about all martial arts..
the last 8 months im learning muay thai and some people telling me that wing chun is better self defense art than muay thai..
and im wondering if they are right
    im waiting for your opinions
i cannot tell you mine just because i have never learned wing chun so i cannot have right opinion

    They each have their place...
All things being equal, I'd pick Muay Thai...because if you actually DO it and train it out, you will be fighting. Wing Chun can sometimes be dubiously taught, and you don't get the fighting component...which will make you ill prepared for an actual encounter.

That being said, the two (it's an odd combo) I feel complement each other beautifully. Muay Thai will bring out your long range tools and good western style boxing, as well as a clinching range not to be surpassed by any other art (all Muay arts being equal). Wing Chun will reinforce applying forward pressure to an opponent, and is actually pretty decent for a multiple opponent scenario...just blasting fools. It'll help teach sensitivity (which will probably help out your prummb work) as well as using abnormal angles and "picking" apart your opponents punches with trapping tools and entries.

So...do both. Dabble. But Muay Thai is more fun.

Only thing you're missing then is grappling, and weapons training.

Muay Thai is the most comprehensive, well rounded, vigourously tested and consistently proven empty hand art I have studied.

      Wing Chun was good fun.

I'm confused? Why do you want to learn Wing CHun when you stated on another thread that JKD was the best???

Does that automatically mean I shouldn't want to learn it? what's your point?

                    No it doesn't.

But why learn something you don't hold in high regard?

I take it that's a drill and not a way to win a fight?

Which is best for you depends largely on who you are, and what you want out of the martial art.

I'd try them both out, get a feeling for the intensity of the training, and crucially - whether you enjoy it and look forward to training.

Both are just as good as i have studied wing chun an a bit of muay thai . Muay thai is great if u wana bang on with some one with very powerfull atacks. On the other hand wing chun is great for doing maximum damage with the least amount of efort an the styles hands are very fast. If u combined the 2 together u will be a force to be wreakoned with
