    oh, right.

so grapplers are not manly men and shy from trading blows??! LOL.

please no coleman examples--watching him swing those hams makes me start wanting a sandwich...

vitor belfort competes does he not as a BJJ player but i've seen him knock more than a few people into the next time zone. wasn't it alan goes practicing his tang so backpedal as belfort jackhammered his face in perhaps the first five seconds?

but i see what's going on here and do believe i've swallowed the hook which you've apparently cast "across the pond"

good one mate. my statements about tyson still stand.

    cheers.

      Chill Steed!

      Rein yourself in!

I was referring to this thread as a really sad attempt at a troll.

The "LOL" was for your "spot on the S.O. team" comment.

I should have put a line in there to make it clearer. sorry.

        Steed:
Well, how did that hook taste BTW?

But in all seriousness, your examples are laughable.

I didn't know Goes fought Belfort, but if he did ... YES ... what did the grappling COWARD backpedal "to"? Punches.

What did Vitor quit to? Punches.

What did Coleman quit to? Punches.

What did Royce quit to? Punches/kicks.

        See a pattern here, mate?

NONE of these guys ever quit when betwixt another man's legs. As women (oops, grapplers) that is their "home" lying down with another male. They are SAFE there as punches mean nothing at this (grrrr) "close" range.

But make one of the grappling cowards get up off the floor like a bitch, and instead stand up LIKE A MAN and trade a few shots, and (LOL) watch-em start quitting.

Men were not made to lie with one another. They were made to pound each other, and lie with women.

What do you want to do with a wild tiger? Capture and contain him, not fight him. Why? Because we are SCARED of tigers and getting hurt.

Well, same thing with a grappler. He is SCARED of punches and getting hurt, so he tries to "capture and subdue" his more corageous, more dangerous opponent.

And even though the strategy may work, like tranquilizing a wild tiger may work, it is NOT the act of bravery to win in such a way ... but instead it is an act of COWARDICE and NOT wanting to stand up and fight like a man.

And the viewing public knows this, which is why grapplers will never make much money. They don't deserve it for their "safety-first" fighting style.

        Yours truly,

        Joe

          laughable? bollocks!

vitor was grounded and pounded by a world class grappler, not vanquished by one of your tassle-shoe wearing jesters with the clown hands.

coleman was eating pete williams shoe and mo smith's punches because he was gassed after their GRAPPLING skills neutralized his attacks.

i will give you that royce isn't made to take punches or kicks.

as for the rest of your examples about men lying with men and being between each other's legs and lions and tigers and bears and what have you, i say: have another pint, mate, 'cause you're bloody f***in' out of your mind...

          cheers

            Pit Daaawg!

I think most people would rather walk away a "coward" after taking someone down and dealing out a beatdown than be left there lying in a pool of blood and be the "man." LOL.

I did the LOL just for you, Pit.

              John Blowhard:
This is not "a really sad attempt" at a troll; this is a light and playful attempt at a troll.

What's really sad is how everyone here is having fun with it BUT YOU (well, Steed too, but even he "got it" after it was spelled out to him). Hell, even the incredibly uptight Ronin is having fun with it.

Hey J.B., I noticed you were whining over on the other thread about the fact your students are leaving you left and right. Ever think it's because YOU SUCK to be around? Or is it your breath?

Lighten up. A troll is good when there is enough truth in it to create a discussion, enough flame in it to pi$$ certain people off, and enough tongue-in-cheek that most people get a kick out of reading it.

Therefore, I submit this "was" a good troll. Obvious sarcasm, yes. Debateable issues, yes. Idiots like you who got pissed. Yes again.

In fact, enough to for you to have posted dissent twice now

              Yours truly,

              Joe

                    Hounddoggy-dog:
Go back to the dog house. The idea is to leave the OTHER man in a pool of blood.

                    Yours truly,

                    Joe

PS: NO, Ryu, not enough punching leverage on the ground, sorry.

                      ok then, Pit Dog....

Would you stand toe to toe with [insert name of badass heavyweight pro boxer] or would you take him down, seeing that you've studied Jiu Jitsu yourself?

So choices are, A) straight b!tch up and take him down or B) end up lying there in a pool of blood. which one is it my fellow mutt?

Once again, I object to that statement Manco!

I am WAYYYYYYYYYY beyond "incredibly uptight."

In fact, I am so stressed out, I haven't defecated in weeks.

I agree with Joe, to a point. I definitly believe that striking is the more efficient way to end a fight, FOR THE MOST PART. Sure, I've seen people end fights with grappling techniques in under a minute, but I've also seen lots of fights that were ended by a single punch. I've seen a grappler beat a fighter, but it took ten minutes, meanwhile a good striker beats the same guy in 30 seconds.

But there are always exceptions. Some people just aren't fast and coordinated enough to excel in the striking ranges. One of my training partners is a lot slower and less coordinated than I am and if he tries to trade punches he gets pounded. If he takes me to the ground though, he can use his weight to smother my punching ability. I think both grappling and striking are important. I also think grappling is easier to learn and practice full contact, but striking is more efficient.

                              My 2 cents

                                You're all wrong!!!

Now throwing, that's manly. You need to wade in through the guys punches, pick him up, and slam him on the concrete so that you can watch his brains ooze out of his head.
