I find it interesting when new members come on the board and criticize the culture that is present. I wonder, do they make a habit of doing that in physical life as they do in virtual life?
You don't just get instant respect when you post on this (or any other) forum. Nor do you get instant respect when you show up in someone's training hall or gym and start detailing all the things their doing wrong.
Everyone is interested in what your background is and how you like to train and if you have any humorous anecdotes. However, not too many people are interested in who invented what, how you think we should all behave, and anyone's extensive combat resume.
It has been my experience that things get crazy on this forum from time to time. Tim runs a pretty loose ship here. The people that stick around generally know how to debate in a 'civilized' fashion. But when the odd duck comes on the scene and starts preaching, they tend not to be taken seriously and generally abused until they go away or become the forum whipping boy.
Now, with all that said, my most humblest of welcomes to you sir....
Originally posted by Bri Thai No offence, but I think you have too many categories. This means that the amount of contributions you receive are thinly spread, giving the impression that there is hardly anyone out there.
There is a lot of overlap between the forums anyway, so why not combine them to an extent?
Awwwww. I'm sorry you don't respect people who disagree with you.......And I'm sorry you have to trawl my posts for evidence......
But I am pleased you can tell me what everyone is or is not interested in!
One thing though. I'll tell people what I am (or am not) interested in, thanks.
PS - Anyone out there want to make me their whipping boy? Find an S and M forum, but don't expect me to see you there.
PPS - That lovely quote of mine was written on a section in the forum where they ask for feedback and suggestions. Does everyone not like that bit? Please let them know what their views are.
But really, in defense of Skiz (and myself since I know I was included.)
Conflict is a tool that is very useful to grow with. Think about Bruce Lee. He would have never developed JKD if he had never had that fight in Chinatown.
Conflict tests you, your resolve , and your beliefs.
America is such a strong nation because we find an excuse to go to war with someone every generation.
The fall of Rome came when expansion and military conflict were put on the side burner.
In strength training you need to give a muscle resistance to make it grow stronger. And what if you only give it a little resistance? Well, it only grows a little.
Conflict/Resistance is necessary. And only the strongest conflict/resistance bring the strongest results.
For someone to grow strong, you must push them. And you must push hard. Skiz and I push hard! We push because we want to learn more than the average person!
And if you and your pansy-ass wants us to stop and smell the roses and act like civilized adults...tell that to the hippies who get trampled on by everyone but another hippy!
Preach it Brother Beavis!!! Managed conflict is the the key to innovation and growth! And since no one on the forum has died from this conflict, I think we're doing a good job.
Are you serious? Do you really equate some of the drivel you write on this board with "the Roman Empire" or the developemnt of Bruce Lee?
Tell me you're joking, please! I really find it hard to believe!
And Pentjackoffsilat - I have a little feed-back for you. I've read loads of your posts and you talk a good fight............................. Is my point made?
PS - Let me know when I'm supposed to run off from this forum because of this great frightening conflict you're capable of, as I may not notice.
PPS - What does everyone think of that Schizophrenic?
Wow, all this conflict. Its really exciting, as some new country might be developing, just coz of us!
