"Keith Schwartz Judo Videos"

Does anyone own the Keith Schwartz white belt through black belt judo videos from Panther? Are they any good? Do they truly cover the whole Judo curriculum? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have his black belt video.
I must say it's pretty good. I enjoy the production quality, and he covers many great throws, some takedowns from knees position, and some newaza.
I don't have all of the videos so I can't say how much is actually covered. But from the one I have, it's a great reference, and I picked up a thing or two.
Definately worth it.

I have the whole series. It covers the whole USJA curiculum 1,2,3.

I'm sure there are details that are missing, but I think they are a good solid base. From what I can tell the sequence follows the USJA handbook exactly.

Hmmmm...

Does he show the 65 or 67 throws of Kodokan Judo? Albeit an old one, my USJA handbook only has the 65. There were two more added last year (?) and I've yet to see what they are! Drives me nuts! I'm VERY doubtful they are two NEW throws, but I'd like to see what modifications or from what other system uses it. Anyone know and can provide a description?

I have the brown and black belt tapes. I must say I find them much better than the Judo tapes WMA are selling.

You are right. They are not new throws. The 2 new officially recognized throws of Kodokan judo are ippon seoinage and sode tsuri komi goshi. They were both considered variations of other throws previously (seoi nage and tsuri komi goshi) but are now officially recognized as official nage techniques. They were included in 1997.

Regarding the Keith Schwartz videos, they are pretty basic but I think they could be useful learning tools and the price wasn't that bad.

If you are looking for more advanced competition stuff there are better tapes out there.
