Wouldn't happen, Royce would take Randleman out.It would be a very long fight but he would take him out.BJJ is meant to stop punches, he's taken anything Randleman can dish out already.

I heard on this forum somewhere that Royce had Sak in the 2nd round but the bell rang or something. I then read in Black Belt that there was suspicion that he did tap out in the 2nd round and his reply was that Gracie had accidentaly kneed him in the groin and Sak thought he said he was sorry so he tapped him lightly to acknowledge the appology. Now, is it me or does anyone else out there think that would not happen. #1 can you see Royce Gracie saying sorry during a match? I don't think that would ever happen, he's just too intense. #2 why, in a tap out oriented competition, would you tap on someone as a response to anything, especially when you are in a submission hold? The whole scenario is kind of fishy to me. I just don't think it would happen. Does anyone have any other info about this incident because it just doesn't make sence to me? If Royce had him there then he never has been finished by strikes.

I'd watch the fight before jumping to a conclusion about that. Sak does not appear to be guillotined at all. On the other hand, Royce really might have been in trouble if Sak could have kept working with that kneebar when the bell rang.
I don't classify this fight as Royce being finished by strikes, more that he just lost a really long fight, he wasn't helpless or ko'd, ya hear me?
I think that Randleman-Royce has potential to be the most boring fight in the history of MMA.

Neither one of them speak English very well, and they don't speak the other's language at all. So how could they understand what the other was saying? Maybe Sak was going off of the tone of his voice or something...I don't know.

What I can comment on is the "guillotine" that he was in. Royce did not have the choke. He wasn't even close. If you watch the fight you will notice that Sak has his arm in and that the his head isn't turning any strange colors like it would if he was being choked.

Why did Sak tap? Who knows. He has said that he tapped to let Royce know he was ok and said that he did it just to mess with Royce's head.

I find it funny that even after the fact, many people just keep making excuses for Royce's loss. "If Royce hadn't broken his foot".....Sakuraba broke his foot, guys.
I would consider Royce's last defeat a loss to strikes. He didn't get KO'd, but that would be ruled a TKO in my opinion. He couldn't continue. Same thing with Ruas when he fought Alex Otsuka.

              Ryu:

Agreed. It's not like Royce was going to make a big come-back on one foot, like some of his worshippers insinuate.

Eventually, Sak would have bicycle-kicked him in the head, and that would have been the end of it. Royce showed great courage, but he got whupped people. Deal with it.

Yeah, Royce really won by guillotine. God, some of you guys are a lost cause.

I've never seen the fight though I want to very much so sorry I had to make ignorant comments and make excuses for Royce. Either way I would also like to see a rematch.

To those who actually gave me info on this fight so I could understand what happened thank you

Royce flat out lost that fight. There is no rational way around this conclusion. He put up a good effort, but Sak just wore him out and then beat him down. I hope Hawk sees the light someday on this issue!

I consider it almost a TKO. Royce refused to continue b/c of a broken foot caused by his opponent. Its pretty hard and very pathetic to make excuses about this ending.

I wouldnt mind seeing a rematch, but I dont want one w/o time limits. It just is too slow. But with time limits, I think that Sak will have an even greater edge. He would have mucho confidence vs Royce in a rematch.

Yes, Royce lost no excuses. But the fact is Royce dominated thru out the whole fight until he broke his foot. And most of all Royce did not quit, it was the corner that threw in the towel. He would've continued if the corner let him. Sak was extremely tired and hurt. Take a look at his face, it was all swollen. I love to see the rematch, I bet Royce would win no doubt!

                        I thought you said.....

                        "Royce lost no execuses. But"

NO! Royce lost. Period. Full stop. End of story. IF you say otherwise you ARE making an execuse. Sak fought a great fight, and Royce showed a lot of heart. Sak won. Royce lost. Please don't talk about ifs, ands, buts, maybes or what have you.

Hopefully, we can return to the original question.

                        Regards,

                        Paul

Look friend, I was only stating the fact. Royce lost, I admit it. But Royce was doing better before the end, face it. Royce is a great fighter, you're just happy that he lost and don't give a shit what happened in the fight huh? There would be no fluke or mistake in the rematch, Royce will be back!!

                            Tiger69:

Yeah, Sak was all bruised and battered, which is why he went out and fought his heart out against Igor Vovchanchin for ANOTHER 15 minutes before conceding due to exhaustion.

Face facts, Royce may have dominated for a while, but he couldn't take Sak out, and finally gassed himself. Kind of like his nemesis Shamrock did against Fujita. In a rematch, Royce wouldn't bring anymore offensive skills to the table than last time, and would lose again.

Unless Sak went to sleep and Royce caught him with a sub. That's the only way he could win. The Gracies defend strikes pretty well, but obviously not well enough.

                              Ronin,

"Yeah, Sak was all bruised and battered, which is why he went out and fought his heart out against Igor Vovchanchin for ANOTHER 15 minutes before conceding due to exhaustion. "

What's the big deal? Sak did not fight fresh heavy Igor, Igor was dead tired as well after the tough fight with Goodridge.

"Face facts, Royce may have dominated for a while, but he couldn't take Sak out, and finally gassed himself. Kind of like his nemesis Shamrock did against Fujita."

Well, Sak couldn't take out Royce either. The corner threw in the towel, not Royce. Royce said he would've continued if the corner didn't force him to stop.

" In a rematch, Royce wouldn't bring anymore offensive skills to the table than last time, and would lose again."

In a rematch, It will be all Royce from start to finish, I guarentee it!

"Unless Sak went to sleep and Royce caught him with a sub. That's the only way he could win."

And that's the way it will be done.

                                whatever....

                                Tiger,

I'm not talking about how the fight went, or who would win in a rematch. I'm simply saying any statements that follow "I'm not making excuses ... BUT" ARE EXCUSES.

The reason this bothers me so much has nothing to do with MMA, Royce, or Sak. It's actually a pet peeve of mine from having to put up with football fans who are convinced "their" team should be in the superbowl even though they finished third in their division.

                                Regards,
