So Pitdog do you actually admit Bruce Lee woul absoluly beat Ali in a NHB comp. If not your crazy. Thats all I have to say, I read all your posts on this thread and completely disagree with 90% of them.

Rorny you must have very little knowlage of Bruce to say he had no Grappling skills at all. He studdied from one of the best wrestlers at that time as well as a host of others. He studied Judo, Ju-Jitsu and Aikido.
As for ali king hitting Bruce....NO WAY IN HELL.

Un Friggin believable
Just how old are you guys? Your babbling back and forth like a bunch of immature little kids. Stick with the facts. Have you ever seen Bruce perform in REAL life? I did. And that was at the beginning of his development. Wanna talk about power-ok. How many of you 'experts" can shatter four or five boards 'dangling' in the air? I tried doing it with a hammer and couldn't do it. Can you measure your blows in hundreths of a second? I don't think so. Ali versus Bruce? Come on be realistic. Are we talking with big gloves on or bare fisted. You ever trap the arms of a boxer? Try it one day and SEE how stupified the look they give you. Gracie I know your one of those whatever grapplers and I fought a few of you. Unfortunately, you're way off the mark. Bruce studied grappling not only from La Belle but many other sources including Indian,Greco Roman,Japanese(including Aikido),Russian,European and Chinese(they have grappling arts too for those of you not in the know). In fact, he studied many of the illegal holds that were barred from grappling. However, it was used as a 'just in case I need it' type of mode. Most of the time he would disable you so quickly ground work was not necessary. And no experience fighting any big names? are you crazy or just ignorant. Take Chuck Norris for instance. I don't really consider him a great fighter but at the time he was top contender and after he trained with Bruce he won all the championships along with two of Bruces other students. In his own words he thought Bruce had ESP or something because he EASILY countered everything he did. Pit Bull or Dog, apparently your 4 years of grappling didn't help much. I keep telling you guys that when you go to the ground in the street you WILL get bitten- that is a given. Now your missing an ear. Where do you think Tyson learned to bite? Ya don't box/grapple in the joint you mame and kill--nothing else. AND you absolutely do not box a bigger guy. He broke your nose? What the f*** is wrong with you? You should have hurt him bad--really bad and not given him the chance. You guys are so busy trying to be Royce Gracies that you miss the big picture--what really works--not in conrolled environements but in the really real world. What the hell would Royce do against a guy like Bruce with that big time lame ass front stomp of his? If you are VERY observant you will see he lands/stands with his knee straight. Perfect for a shin/knee kick. Bruce was extremely fast and powerful and would snap that leg like a toothpick. So powerful in fact that he couldn't spar with human subjects anymore with out hurting them badly. Get the facts guys. Forget all the theories about who would do what and where and just realize that Bruce was about disabling a person in the shortest amount of time possible while everyone else trains for competition in a 'contolled' environement. You just can't compare atom bombs with dynamite. Their uses are different. One is for killing/destroying and the other is used in controlled environments(ie.demolition etc.)

Hey Horny.
I was enjoying this thread. That Pitt Bull guy is a real character.
But then you came steaming in, like a wet lettuce. "What a wanker" I thought. No wit.
But posting the picture of the disabled child is cowardly and sick. That child is worth 10 of you.
You Wanker.

Auto;
LOL, yeah right. Let's see you face a trained fighter who outweighs you by 70 lbs and "end it instantly."
LOLOLOL ... spoken like a true internet tough guy
Now, if I'd have had my Glock I would have "ended it instantly" ... but I didn't.
Auto, the simple reality is ... there are other trained fighters in this world besides yourself (if you even are) ... and when you run into a trained fighter who outweighs you significanly, you will lose that altercation.
Son, that is why WEIGHT DIVISIONS were invented LOL.
Bruce being able to hit boards is all well and good ... LOL ... but didn't Bruce say himself ... "Boards don't HIT BACK!" ?
Look, I came here to have a little fun, and to give a serious opinion in the midst of stirring up a little trouble ... but if anyone seriously believes that Bruce Lee was anything but a little man, and an UNPROVEN fighter ... and that (as such) he could have a legitimate chance to whip Mohammed Ali ... LOL ... then they are entitled to their stupidity

Sure ...
Well, I was in a situation where there were a group of "unwholesome" individuals that I had to deal with in matters that shouldn't be discussed here.
One of those individuals (my size) sucker punched me and just kind of flailed at me taking me to the ground. I was totally unprepared for this, but reflexively put him in my guard ... when he started biting my face and bit my ear off.
I wasn't scared, but yet I wasn't mad either. At this point I was just kinda tripping out. My immediate thought was "I do not want this drugged out freakshow biting me any more," and so I kinda hid my face inside my shoulders from the guard and placed my hand under his jaw and between my head and his.
I was able to get my footing and get back up, whereupon I jammed him into a wall. With my shoulder under his chin and my hand still between our heads to prevent being bitten. He was flailing lamely (obviously couldn't fight, but was just wiggin' out on something), and then he charged me and tried to pick me up and dump me again.
I put him in a guillotine and laid back with him in my guard ... then all his friends pulled my choke off him and him up onto his feet (I was alone).
By this time I was fukken pi$$ed and I wanted to kill him, literally.
But he ran into the house where these jokers were and a wall of them wouldn't let me go after him. The big guy was actually the second guy I fought, because he told me to leave. I said I wasn't leaving until that &%&*&*^% came out and got what was coming to him.
This big fellow said, "You'll have to go through me first," and my fist bounced off his face as the last word left his mouth. LMFAO, he was huge, but I figured he was just a bald tatt boy with pumped up muscles, but didn't really know how to fight.
LOL, but I was wrong, I could tell by his stance that he could box ... and what made it worse was that he was a southpaw. We were on a sloping hill, and I was already one fight tired, bleeding, but still very pi$$ed off
I figured, hell, if there's one thing I've still got at (then) 37 years old it's stamina. Always had great air. Well, I figured ... since it was clear he could fight ... and was too big to just blow through (like the dumbass Auto suggested) ... all I had to do is stay awake for a few minutes and his big a$$ would get tired swinging those big pumped up arms.
Well, I was right, pretty much. The only thing was, was that even his slow jabs busted my mug open every time they hit ... and his reach was too great. I didn't feel like taking him down to the ground, on asphalt, where I would only sustain a terrific beating ... all so I could possibly get an armlock thirty minutes later. Whoopie!
I figured I could box pretty well, and was faster, and better-schooled, so I would just try to stay awake and catch him making a green mistake.
Well, all I did was move in and out, feinting, just trying to make him swing those big arms and get tired. I was bleeding pretty good, but I've got a good chin, and never was wobbled. I was just made uglier with every shot I took, LOL
Well, I feinted low with the left, and hooked off the top of it, and caught the bastard right on the chin/mouth. He stutter-stepped forward, then back ... and that was the break I was looking for ... I knew I had his a$$!
I moved in to finish him and >WHAM!< ran right into a straight left that fukked my shit up. My nose was totally destroyed, it like just exploded. Dammit!
I basically said, "That's it. You're too fukken big." LMAO, but I still wanted to kill that first guy
But such was not to be ... because the first guy didn't have the cajones to come back outside.
So I left and blew bloodclots out my nose all the way to the hospital ... LMFAO

Sorry if you felt offended Pit
That was not my intention. See, what you don't realize is I ended up in prison because of fighting. And big guys are a given in there and in the streets where I grew up. The mistake you made was trying to overpower the 'big fello'. You also experienced your first biting. It's a real eye opener isn't it? I don't know what your fighting experience level is or what your physical attributes are. You have stamina which is good but how about speed, balance and coordination. You mentioned that he was slow(his jab). Well, I'm somewhat confused. Where was your mobility(slipping.duckingetc.). Or how about beating him to the punch really quick--especially the low line on big guys--or even a finger jab to the eyes. Apparently, overpowering the guy with punches didn't work. Hitting him speedily in the areas he can't cover with muscles was the way to go. Also remember, that means 360 degrees around the opponent. I like grappling just as much as you do only I didn't limit myself to it solely. It has it's time and place. However, I did learn how to disable people quickly and efficiently. Forget about not wanting to hurt a person if you want to survive. People who attack you are assholes and WILL try to hurt you badly-sometimes kill you. All I really want you to do is learn from this experience. What that means now is working on your standup skills and learning how to mame(it sounds harsh but is a necessity in street'). As far as me being a dumbass--well, everyone has a right to their own opinion. I prefer to stick with facts though which meant that my dumbass learned very quichkly at an early age not to repeat mistakes and what to do in case the same situation ever arose.

That's cool, we all get amped sometimes ...
Auto said,
"See, what you don't realize is I ended up in prison because of fighting. And big guys are a given in there and in the streets where I grew up."
RESPONSE:
LOL, I'd have know way to know that without you telling me, LOL
Auto said,
"The mistake you made was trying to overpower the 'big fello'."
RESPONSE:
Well, that didn't happen. The mistake you're making is analyzing things I never did. If you re-read, I was trying to get him tired by feinting him. At 160 lbs I certainly wasn't going to try and overpower a 230 lb guy ... LOL
Auto said,
"You also experienced your first biting. It's a real eye opener isn't it?"
RESPONSE:
True! It was a trip. But, after awhile, I adapted and choked that bastard outIt was the second individual who I couldn't get passed. But you're right - being bitten when you're not used to it ... especially getting an ear bitten 1/2 off ... throws off your thinking!
Auto said,

RESPONSE:
Boxed for 6 years, BJJ for 4. I used to be a physical specimen (a white marvin Hagler LOL) ... but at 38 I am not the "pistol" I used to be! I used to have the reflexes of a couger ... LOL ... but even that fades too when you get older! I tired all that ducking stuff ... LOL ... but when you're 5'10" ... and your oppenent is 6'3" with about a 10" reach on you, and 70 lbs in weight, LMAO, you can only do so much!
Auto said,
"Or how about beating him to the punch really quick--especially the low line on big guys--or even a finger jab to the eyes."
RESPONSE:
Well, that's what I was trying to do ... make him reach for me by feinting in and out ... and try to catch him coming in. Wasn't thinking about finger jabs. Again, you can't really analyze all the possible sh!t you can do ... when sh!t just happens. Believe me, as I was driving to the hospital I went over in my mind all my mistakes ... LOLOLOL
Auto said,
"Apparently, overpowering the guy with punches didn't work. Hitting him speedily in the areas he can't cover with muscles was the way to go."
RESPONSE:
Again, there was no way I was going to overpower this guy ... so I wasn't trying to do that ... I was just trying to stay out of the way of his punches ... by making him miss ... so as to get him tired and get his hands down ... in the hopes of catching him with a good shot. Hey, it almost worked, LOL, but I went in to finish too soon!
Auto said,
"Also remember, that means 360 degrees around the opponent. I like grappling just as much as you do only I didn't limit myself to it solely. It has it's time and place. However, I did learn how to disable people quickly and efficiently."
RESPONSE:
Well, again, it's easier to analyze your fight options when you have a moment to reflect. But, after one fight already, and my ear bit off ... and not having had a fight in years ... you can't just sit down and ponder all your options. You just do what you do in that moment.
Auto said,
"Forget about not wanting to hurt a person if you want to survive. People who attack you are assholes and WILL try to hurt you badly-sometimes kill you. All I really want you to do is learn from this experience."
RESPONSE:
LMFAO, oh, I wouldda killed his fukken a$$ if I would have gotten him down. LMAO, but as far as "what I've learned" ... it's to bring my Glock with me more often. LOLOL No disrespect, bud, but you can't sit there behind a computer moniter, fantacizing, and say what you "wouldda done" ... because when sh!t happens you aren't necessarily prepared ... and when you face a SKILLED bigger opponent ... the odds are simply that you will get your a$$ kicked ... regardless of what you do ... LOL
Auto said,
"What that means now is working on your standup skills and learning how to mame(it sounds harsh but is a necessity in street')."
RESPONSE:
I guess there may be "some" skills I could learn to use ... but I already know how to fightAgain, it isn't my skill level ... it was the fact that (regardless of HOW much you train) ... there are just going to be other people in this world who can whoop your a$$! LOL
Auto said,
"As far as me being a dumbass--well, everyone has a right to their own opinion. I prefer to stick with facts though which meant that my dumbass learned very quichkly at an early age not to repeat mistakes and what to do in case the same situation ever arose."
RESPONSE:
My apologies too ... no need to be offensive with each other. But I do know how to fight pretty good ... on the ground and standing up ... LMAO ... but I ain't getting any younger ... and (at 5'10" 160) there is only so much I can do against a 6'3" 230 lb younger monster ... who also knows how to fight
Ya win some ya lose some ...
Take care,Last edited by Pit Dog; 08-04-2002, 08:03 PM.

Hey Pit,How ya doin'
What I was actually trying to get across is reaching a point in your training where 'thought' doesn't come into play anymore. Drilled actions in response to certain stimuli. That leaves the mind free to analyze what 'tactics' are required to win. Only problem with this is you become a nervous wreck--constantly twitching--automatically ducking/slipping when an arm would come your way--even if it was just a hug from a friend. I even went so far as to kick a buddies' tooth out by accident when he jumped from behind a wall trying to scare me. I was always very aware/alert. Now in my upper years too, fighting is a thing of the past. I still workout but the attitude has changed from annihilation to just enjoying life. At our age maybe it is best not to go looking for battles. I don't flinch anymore(if someone threw a punch at me now it would probably smack me) cause I don't train like that anymore. My last altercation was almost a decade ago(actually about 8 years) and I am no longer a nervous wreck. Take care of yourself--really.

If you're "awareness" meant that you were walking around like a nervous wreck then you were training wrong.
To me, awareness is about getting into good habits. Reminding yourself to be alert, staying out of dangerous areas, noting high tension in places and then LEAVING, keeping a safe distance between yourself and strangers during conversations etc.
It is not about walking around expecting to find a mortal enemy round each and every corner.
