Hi all.
I know a little about BJJ. I saw UFC and Pride and am a fan of Rickson Gracie.
However, I recently moved to a neighbourhood in Los Angeles. It's a dangerous neighbourhood where many people get killed and stabbed with ice picks and stilettos.
I need a good fighting art and was wondering if any of you could reccommend a good BJJ style or school that teaches effective defense for realistic street encounters with edged and bladed weapons. I know the grappling is superb, but was hoping some of you could point to a BJJ school that really understands the reality of street fights in inner Los Angeles, and not Pacific Palisades.
I ask for your help because I don't have a car and can only study in the Rampart district of Los Angeles, not any of the surrounding hoods like Beverly Hills, or Torrance or places like that.
I asked a couple of old killers in my hood why there is no BJJ schools in the tougher parts of Los Angeles, and was told that BJJ has no place in the reality of Los Angeles street fights where your life depends on it.. Is this true!!!!???
Now, if there is a BJJ club in my neighbourhood, I need to know if the guy has actually used his technique in reality, otherwise it's not worth it to go and learn from him.
