Is there controversy with the mixed martial artist and the kung fu fighters?
This is completely untrue. My Great-Great Grandfather founded the Scottish Martial Art of Fuhk-Yew. The man farted thunder and could crap lightning . . . but he couldn't jump for sh*t. And you wouldn't want to throw that stuff.
Now that I've completely ruined the mood on this thread . . . I think I'll slip away quietly.
I'm second generation Scott-american. Where can I learn these techniques and harness this kind of power. All I've ever been able to generate is hot air, coming out of both ends!

You must posess the Haggas to truly understand the truth of Fuhk-Yew.
i have that documentery on my comp. yeah those shaolin guys did tons of pretty intense stuff, however, i dont know if u noticed but never once did it show them do any kind of live sparring. all they did was conditionining, and forms. never once did any of them have any gear on, going toe to toe with eachother. they are missing out on the most important aspect of training. i mean, ok so they use ur head as a battering ram to strenghtnen it, and u spend hours conditioning ur hands with sand and water and whatnot, but what good is all that when u havent even sparring before and dont know how to keep ur cool while being attacked and whatnot?
Hey man, like freaky kinda coincidence duuuude, we must be in like parallel realities or some such other freaky thing, cos while you were making that observation, I was wondering why the UFC Dudettes wasn't spinnin on spears and cracking PR-24's wit deh butt cracks n stuff.
Mind you, they might be able to do this stuff.
It just wasn't in the video you saw right?
No wonder the british repeatedly stomped the scots..well history buffs theres your answer
The Scot's are British. You meant the English, but seeing as you already discredited your own knowledge of history......
No wonder I can't Shit lightning! I can't even spell Haggas, I mean Haggus, %*^($)(! . . . *sits down, takes a deep breath, eats a little cookie * haggis.
Use attack as your indestructable spiritual strength.
Awareness is the spirit.
Attack is the foundation of thought.
Attack like thunder from the heaven's.
Retreat like dust of the earth.
Kung Fu is to get out of a dangerous situation..it does not "box on".
If you want to do this...Sifu will not be responsible for your fate.
You basically learn to CHECKYOURSELF..."why do you want to box on?"
but of course; this mean's you cannot take on Vitor Belforte or Kostya Tzyu..
it's all about conditioning...Kung Fu is mentally conditioned to NOT be the instigator of violence...uhmmm?
Why fight?: Kung Fu say's if it's not over in 2-3 second's then you are asking for it...that's why it takes so long to be an expert...just like it takes that long to be competitive in the ring(another expert): What are you conditioning yourself for?
The better you are at martial art's-the more you can control the other person...the better you are at fighting-the more you come up against better fighter's...it's your call!!

...as soon as Harada saw the kimono clad Okuyama with his long flowing hair he said, “I knew I couldn’t win the encounter”. There was something special about him. Harada faced him all the same, but as soon as it had begun it was over “it was truly incredible” Harada recalled, “so fast”. Okuyama had attacked Harada’s head with an open palm. Okuyama had not even physically touched Harada “but I felt the power, such power, I had never felt that before anywhere”.
I don't know much about Kung Fu, but one thing I've learned from the Bubushi is that the reason there are so many techniques are to specifically attack pressure points. They didn't want this knowledge to pass on to their enemies, etc, so they hid the techniques in their Kata (the quan).
Pressure points are a great example of how theory does not always perfectly follow reality. Pressure point striking is a very very precise method of attack. Very precise. How precise are you when you're nervous? In my opinion, all Kung Fu and Karate (Kata bound) people should put on some light gloves and go at it. That's how you gain confidance in your techniques. It's one thing when people are confident because they "know" a martial art, then they find out in a fight that they really don't "know" it at all, because they never really learned more than the most superficial ideas of a technique.
However, I do agree with the Kung Fu dude who said that the Kung Fu moves used to kill someone cannot be used in the ring, leaving Kung Fu at a disadvantage.

And which points would those be? What if the guys wearing a thick jacket or baggy pants?
There is no such thing as deadly vital point striking. There is kyushojutsu and pressure points to cause pain and numbness in the joints, but there's no "poke them a few times, watch their heart explode" points.
