Is there controversy with the mixed martial artist and the kung fu fighters?
"Either you kill or capture, or you will be captured or killed. We've got to be tough to win, and we've got to be ruthless-tougher and more ruthless than our enemies."
-W.E.F.
[" And although we may do our best to avoid trouble, sometimes trouble insists on finding us. When that happens......when the time for talk is over, warriors act. They flip the switch and act decisively - ruthlessly if necessary - to preserve and defend the things that they hold dear." Michael D. Many Schools have borrowed or use the term Kung-Fu. I was taught from my master that if one does not contend he can cannot be held in contention. In my set of core values life and well being are precious, to maliciously set aside my values for a trophy, I would bring shame upon my masters. These kung-fu heavy hitters are what you would call posers

A martial artist should strive to be a vessel empty of themselves. This allows room for growth. I used to laugh at people who said things like this but ask any serious instructor and they will tell you that there style and form became better with spirituality.

its pretty simple, toa te ching said
those who actively initiate will be defeated,
those who hold fast to anything will loose it,
therefore, the sage is never defeated because he is passive,
and never loose because he is detached.

alright i vote for kung-fu
ok now mma are bound by rules
us of the kung-fu are not
maybe the "experts" were acually guys who did for a semest or something that the annouser did false
(bad spelling)
for the most part my school is trandonal
but we have ground fighting so we could learn some things
anybody is defeatableit all depends on weaknesses and such
some people are great fighters like my sifu
65 years old
he can beat quite a few people can eaisly down a 3rd degree black sash no problem
he uses even less force then i would
sure if one of those guys got me on the ground it would be a bad struggle for me but i wouldnt get totally creamed
and just for wrap up
true kung-fu experts are quite old just because your a black doesnt mean your an expert it just means you have enough to start teaching a little to other people
well, in a street fight MMA fighters are bound by no rules... sure in the ring they are, so are chinese martial artists (example: wushu, which to me is just a traditional demonstration involving little precticality, HOWEVER, CMA people do have San Shou, which is very much like MMA, because it is in a ring!! so there are rules!!)
IMO: MMA includes kung fu, a mixed martial artist is not just a BJJ/Muay Thai guy, he is a man who trains in numerous martial arts, which could include kung fu, so in the broad spectrum, an MMA man has a much more grand plethera of technique and strategy, because it is limitless and including any martial art.
