Ive only been in 1 .. maybe 2 fights since I started MA. First one I was too new to know if I used any of my skills second .. I hit the person once they fell down.
For once I didnt break any parts of my hard or wriste .. I kept a straight wrist .. and I learnt this from training .. i dunno if it was just luck that I did it or what.
So basically to answer your question .. no I have not use any of my skills in real life. Unless you count being alot more flexable and fit or more co - ordinated.

i have fought a bare fist fight with a wrestler and i got beat like a red headed step child. mabye that was because i was studying korotty at the time and all i could think of doing was katas.lol didn't help much. so when i decided to quit and stuy by myself i bought a couple books on TKD, JKD, and philosophy. now that i incorperate moves like hooks, kicks, and a few grappling arts(i am very limited when it comes to ground fighting). so what i do now is get together with a couple friends and we practice boxing on a mat. when i am boxing i incorperate foot rhythm with some straight blasts. it is better to get rhythm from music i think and were i practice we have a record table. it's sweet. later i am going to join a BJJ class and make it fluent with my footwork and then i will be well rounded. i also sometimes join tournament.
so yes i use my skills in real life.and they are very usfull

I haven't used my 'skills' in a fight since I was 14 years old. It's been 16 years since I was in a fight. MOST people choose not to give me a hard time, or they do not press the issue to the point of physical conflict.
I use my 'skills' in recognizing and avoiding bad situations. The cops like it better that way.
Just remember, I wasn't talking about my DGEAS skills.

and how many times have u used ur finger to press the button?
The last time I came close to a fight was when a hillbilly (cowboy boots overall with out a shirt ) pused my kid over and refused to appoligize, but I have never actaully needed to try my trainning for real but SZ has promised to put me on his list so who knows

"MOST people choose not to give me a hard time......"
Well, no one wants AIDS......
Anyway, I got in loads of "situations" when on the beat as what you lot would call a "Rookie Cop". I had most training in Shukokai Karate back then, but had some experience of Wing Chun and a very unrealistic form of Japanese Jiu Jitsu.
I found that the basic Shukokai Reverse Punch worked fine as a pre-emptive strike. We used to train by pounding a kind of solidified foam pad (held by our partners) and, though the stance and delivery were very rigid, it worked like a dream if you caught him well (which I usually did). I didn't know what a pre-emptive strike was back then, by the way, I just knew that the guy was frightening me to death and I was about to be hurt.
Occasionally someone would shrug it off. I would call for help on the radio, grab hold of them, and then hold on for dear life. It worked well enough. If it went to the floor I did know Kesgatame (Scarf Hold) and would somehow find myself holding them in it.
I feel much more confident now. I am fairly experienced at Ground Grappling, and have done alot of work recently at Close Quarter Combatives. Now I worry that I might hurt someone too much. I no longer have youth and energy on my side, but do have experience, cunning and nastiness.
But who knows what might happen? Anyone can get beat by almost anyone else if the circumstances fit.

I have had to use my training in a few situations when I was bounceing but I tried not to hurt anyone. Most off the time I would lock them up and drag them out. I did have to sweep someone once and he cut his head open when he hit the side walk and I felt bad but he was drunk and wouldnt back off.
The first time and only time I have had to use my JJ training in a street fight I ducked and blocked a few swings got behind him and choked him out. I hadnt even realized what happened until after the fight was over and I let him go before I killed him.
I also used alot off my karate training when I was a kid but I dont remember any real details.

Thankfully, I've only had two real fights after starting training. I've been able to walk away from many situations without losing my cool.
Once, I was in a club and this guy started insulting me for no apparent reason
and the other time it was over a parking space. The guy was standing in a parking space without a car!!!! He would not let me park and I just can't stand bullies. When I conforted him, he simply pushed me and I came back with a front kick to his stomach......he bent over and I didn't want to continue hitting him b/c he looked like he already had enough.....so I just drove away.

Ive used my martial skils a few times on the street.
The last time was embarassing a massive bouncer infront of about 20 of my work mates. About the only time its ever happend when thier has been whitnesses.
I used one of the techniques i was taught when i was a white belt.
