carl is the master's master of real life fighting as opposed to dojo ego-boosting belt system jack. nothing's wrong with learning a system and ascending to different belts, but don't expect an armed assailant to bow for you before he breaks your ribs with his lead pipe. haha.

There is a school that teaches Goshin Jutsu in my area, i have driven past it and always wondered what it was. I figured it had something to do with BJJ. Personally i've always preferred to stay on my feet(Muay Thai) but i'm very intrested in improving my grappling skills, would you recommend Goshin Jutsu? Is it only grappling or are there some stand up techniques as well??

I would appreciate your input HuSan Yan
MTHayden, most of the styles of Japanese JuJutsu consist of what i suppose could be called 'stand up' grappling, basically throws, joint locks, dislocations, strikes, how to fall/roll etc. there are many resources on the web for JJ including the many differing sylabuses. On the whole there tends to be little ground fighting techniques.
Re your question, yes I would recommend 'Goshin' as its very much aimed at practical self defense.
      hope this helps
