I don't see any problem with gun ownership. I agree with Thomas Jefferson assessment of "a well armed populace is the best deterent to a tyranical government." That being said, I don't own a gun and have never fired a gun. I'm not comfortable owning something that has no purpose other than to kill. If you want to carry a gun around that's fine with me, but be careful of the real reasons why you carry it. Do you do it to make you feel more important or powerful? That's the wrong reason.

LOL I carry my gun for my personal safety. I think that a lot of people walk around everyday, go home and watch the news every night, and see many shootings and murders every day, and say to themselves "oh that will never happen to me" WRONG!!!! Every body feels that way including the dead guy that got mugged in the gutter. I have never heard of anyone who carried a gun just to make themselves feel important. Besides its not like you go around and show it off. It should always be concealed.

Dearest JIMI, aren't you the guy that prattled on in another thread how running away from danger was some kind of cowardice? How stupid is that?

People like you need a gun to feel secure. You haven't got the courage to face the world without one.

Hahaha wrong again. I believe in not limiting oneself to any one thing. After all you cant bring a fist to a gun fight and you cant bring a knife to a gunfight. And running never solves anything. I train in all ranges mixed martial arts, different weapons training, and of course firearms training. I am failing to see your point? How does my post about carrying a gun have any difference then what i posted about Not running away? Also last time i checked, the world is not a fair place and its a dog eat dog world out there. If you feel that you can pull off MATRIX movie bullet dodging moves on the street then great. However i will respond in the same way someone attacks me. Hand for hand, weapon for weapon, gun for gun. If you want to depend on the police to help you thats fine, usually they arrive too late though to even make a difference when it matters. Another thing , why do people who are in trouble call the cops? Cause cops have guns-hence, GUNS STOP CRIME! But being from the UK where i am hearing that guns are not allowed, you probably dont know what i am talking about. You people on the other side of the planet have no idea what it means to be truly free!

Just out of curiosity. How many times have you been threatened by someone with a gun?

Gee, golly well........never. Wow i got your point! there is no need for me whatsoever to have a gun now. I am going to sell all of my guns right now. Also i havent been in a fight for many years so i guess i have no need to do martial arts anymore either. Thanks so much for enlightening me. See you at the peace protests!

You know what? You're right, I'll go buy a gun tonight. Then I'll buy a rubber suit cause I just might get hit by lighting. And a helmet cause I mught get hit by a small meteor. etc. etc. etc

Well what the hell was your point man? How did you expect me to respond? I would rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. If i go my whole life without ever needing it then great, but i have always been of the opinion of playing it safe and always being prepared for anything. Your not French are you? just curious

Well hooray! I love texans cause most of you guys are pro gun. I guess i felt like you were coming off anti gun so i responded accordingly. I just wanted you to know that just because i have not had a person pull a gun on me yet doesnt mean that you shouldnt have one. Most of the time i think the biggest time you would need one would be in your home at night for a burglery or whatever.

I have faced someone with a gun. He came to my school after I finished teaching one night. The door was locked and I heard someone beating on it. So I went and opened it up and there was this guy standing there. He never drew the weapon as he had it on his hip but I made the decision that if he tried to reach for it I would kill him or do everything in my power to kill him. It was me and 4 or 5 children in the building. Turns out he was looking for his daughter who had gone out without telling him and had come to the school with some friends. He had been drinking and was not really thinking correctly.

Later I learned the gun was not even loaded.

My aunt when she was in her 40's had two large men break into her home. My dad had made her purchase a 38 special and taken her to the range to teach her how to use it. She grabbed the gun from her night table and went down to find out what had made all the noise and found two large men standing on her broken down door. She fired a few shots and the men quickly fled falling down steps and over a small wall. But escaped. My aunt put a hole in her wall but was safe. The police told her next time to aim a little lower and to the left (she would have shot the guy in the groin instead of the wall.)

I don't care a gun, and don't own one but I believe it is wise to know how to shoot properly and I am a very decent marksman. Someday I will probably own a gun and if it is legal may carry it on occasion. Right now I pretty much just carry my little tiny kershaw pocket knife.

My dad was a undercover special deputy when he was younger and taught me about guns.

These were the rules that we were to follow.

Never draw a gun unless you intend to kill them.

Keep a gun concealed and don't let anyone know you have it. (unless the law is different.) Missouri were I used to live you could carry but it had to be visable.

Learn how to use the gun safely and effectively.
