How much is the Army using members of the Special Forces to develop the new material?
Our sources and instructors come from all over the Army. Because of the Origins of the program, The Ranger Regt. and the nature of the men and missions, many are from the Special Operations community.

My recommendation came from my experience training with some of his people.
I like the idea of judging a teacher by his students. To take it one step further, in a military combatives system, it is not even the students’ abilities but the abilities of the average soldier. The measure of our success will be whether in eight or ten years the average soldier knows more about fighting than they do now. Wish me luck.

Do you know the venue in which it will be published?
I believe it will be published in the American Psychological Association, Military Psychology Journal.

These are images of men from the 82nd Airborne Div. currently engaged in operations in Afganistan. See the amount of gear, and Im sure you can imagine the weight of the gear. What would be the ideal fighting style to use when encoumbered with such weight?
Times and equipment have changed a lot since the British Commandos and OSS fought in WW2. Which I belive is the time when Fairbarn and Sykes had some influence on H2H in the armed forces.
I will also include 2 more images in the following post.

Those images aren't showing up, at least not for me. Is there another way to post them? I'd love to see them.

Im interested if anyone looked at the pics and picture link I posted? WHat are your thoughts on the gear the military carries and your opinions on what hand to hand techniques or styles should be taught to our soldiers?

                  Misguided

                  Kingston you got it right.
First of all let me tell you this.
Vladimir has had Masters from all over the world visit and test him
only to feel like everyone else useless.
Oh by the way these so called experienced martial artists are constantly getting man handled by our beginner students.
That fat guy your talking about can make any steroid freak look so stupid he will brake out crying.
Grapplers are always scratching there heads in amazement as to why they cant even put there hands on this guy or even take him to the mat or hard floor in our case.
Boxers have taken up there usual stance only to feel there arms drop instantly from extreme pain unable to continue.
Guys have tested him by kicking in every way imaginable only to be completly destroyed and thats sometimes without even using his hands.
Dont believe it , just come to Toronto and test yourself with our students after that Im sure you wont even want to be in the same room as Vladimir.
Im not trying to sound like a tough guy I just want you to understand that if you come to Toronto you will have the greatest experience in your life.
The first day I entered the toronto club to check Vlad out I left so freaked out by what he did to me I couldn't sleep.
Please guys no hard feelings I have met alot of friends just like you that have come to Toronto to feel for themselves.
I always have room for more, hope to meet some of you some day.

                      • Seriously, dude. This is getting silly. Systema is becoming the new Ninjistu pretty quickly. The 90's had BJJ, and now we have Systema--which isn't widely accepted as a proven system (not to say that it's bad).

"You won't even know what hit you..."
"Thousands of masters were tested and deemed unworthy..."
"Pain that they couldn't even understand..."
"Completely destroyed! Without use of the hands..."
"You will be left scratching your head in amazement when you are completely foiled in your attempts..."
                        "We can beat anybody..."

This is what I'm hearing from your friendly neighborhood Systema instructor as well as a bunch of other internet posters (all of whom seem to be affiliated with Systema). From people who have gone to seminars of Mr. Vasilev, I hear mixed responses. Some good, some bad. However, all of them say that he is a truly incredible martial artist. The feeling, however, is that his students don't exactly measure up. If your teacher can do it, but you can't, then what's the point? There ain't any secrets out there, so quit looking for them. There is no unbeatable system, as there is no unbeatable fighter. So, Niko, stop playing PR guy and contribute something useful, or you will have to leave.

                        • Systema may not have the unbeatable Shredder....but i like it

                          • Dear Ryanhall
I agree with the fact that there is no such thing as unbeatable as well as any system of martial arts that can assure 100% victory.
Your right about Systema not bieng widely excepted as a self defense System because its barely even known throughout the Russian community let alone American or Canadian but I know that anyone who has been in contact has had great things to say.
The System was tested by the Russian government against all other martial arts and was chosen with flying colors to be used by a few Elite Special Operations Units.
These soldiers used the System in all aspects of bodyguarding of top military and government personel.
Im sure to anyone reading this it doesnt sound like a martial art that doesnt work does it.
I know that its not a sport thats for sure.
Response to the students issue I have never studied a martial art that lacked guys who couldnt fight out of a wet paper bag no matter what sytem they studied.
I could teach someone Systema for 10 years and they could suck.
I could teach another person and they can become amazing in one year.
How good you are is an Individual thing.
I have studied martial arts since the age of twelve and loved everyone of them but at the end Systema was for me it had everything and more(dont get angry its just my personal opinion)
Now as for me being a P.R guy Im sorry for expressing my opinion based on my experience but I still cant understand why your such an angry person and have so much bad to say based on no experience in Systema at all.

If you were to ask me for my opinion on Brazillian ju jutsu and I spoke highly of it would you again tell me that I have to leave the forum.
You dont sound like a humble person to me especially for a martial artist.

I came on this forum to Discuss martial arts no matter what kind.
Can you please let me know when its okay to talk highly about a system of combat, maybe you can put a list of all the stuff you think is worthy of compliments.

                            Thanks

                            • Your Opinion

                              Again Ryanhall
You just finished saying you have not met Vlad, you have not met any of his people or seen anything that he does and yet your saying he would not be a top source for a self defense instructor.
What doesnt make sense here, are you for real.
Your giving an opinion on something you absolutely admit you know nothing about.
Its like me telling people on the forum about my opinion on brain surgery or nuclear physics or recomending you to a martial system that I have never experienced or even seen with my own eyes and yet i will say its a great place.
Its like me giving a mechanic my opinion on how he should not buy this engine or that engine knowing that I know shit about engines.
The only opinion that counts comes from someone with experience in a particular area, my opinion on politics means crap dont know anything about politics.
My opinion about mechanics mean diddly I have never worked on a car in my life.
Now if you were to tell me that you met Vlad and his students and got to train and stated your opinion on what you thought
                              I could deal with that.
Will you ever come to Toronto, I would love to tape you training with our students and I will give you a copy to show your friends how shity Vlads students are.

The Marine Corps martial arts program is NOT shitty. Its excellent.
