Why not just register your hands as deadly weapons?

Does that mean muay thai fighters have to register their elbows as deadly weapons. But "Back off, my elbows are registered as deadly weapons.", just doesn't come across as badass enough.

(Note to Spanky: that doesn't mean that I want you to shoot me five times to prove otherwise.)
        Well, I offered....

          I was joking.

I'm not into firearms. It isn't in my culture. I know theres a few about in Britain but, by and large, they tend to be used on other people who also mess with them. Is a fight I choose to abstain from.

i'm not into guns really either. But Wearing a suit and a "tie" AKA "noose" around my neck as I travel through some of these areas with my laptop. Off to meet people I have never met before. Going into areas that do have shootings and stabbings and such. It might be a good idea if I started getting into them a little bit more.

I started carrying my little scallion kershaw knife just to cut the damn tie off in case I was attacked.

Defending yourself while in a suit is bad enough, but I can't just go to these homes armed to the teeth. People might get a bit nervous.

Thats why I was wondering what the smallest handgun that would be useful is.

I have only had 3 occasions where a gun may have been useful to me. all 3 were verbally descalated. One with a gun drawn behind the door so the other person was not aware of it.

I do not think I'm in great danger but you never know. If I didn't travel to areas that I don't know a hell of a lot about it might be a different story but some of the places I end up are often an adventure.

I want something small preferably one that makes a lot of noise when fired. Is reliable and can be hidden and not detected by people looking at me. It be fine with me if the first two shots were blanks anyway.

If they aren't out of there after the first one then i'm trying to kill them anyway.

Don't buy the gun, use the money to insure your lap-top against theft. You get held up, give them the lap-top.
You pull a gun, they pull a gun, best case you shoot someone and live.
But hell, what do I know? I was in London today and an armed reponse unit (Police car carrying armed Police men) passed us. People stopped and stared.

No offense but that is a bad criterea for any kind of gun. It is not a noisemaker it's a weapon with the potential to easily kill with. Blanks are useless, but I have met one guy who had some kind of non-lethal loads. I think it was salt or something, but that was long ago and the guy may have been pulling my leg. Not about the which I did see but about what he had loaded in it.

Anyways a .22 meets the first part of your needs but is way too quiet. You may just want somekind of pepper spray.

Come on down. I have a few nice surprises for the person after my belongings. Oh yes!

On a serious note, burglary involving guns is very very rare over here. Sure there are robberies (commercail and private individual) but not many burglaries. The only reason armed crime hits the news over here is because there is so little of it.

In Manchester we call the Armed Officers ARVs (armed response vehicles). Although I work in a control room, I get to take charge of them during spontaneous firearms incidents. One day I'd like to go into the unit itself but, at my rank, I'd be doing the planning rather than the shooting.

In my neck of the woods we call them pickup trucks.

I'm not really concerned about the laptop. It is insured. I'm concerned about the attention it draws. there are also some racial problems around here so a white boy in a suit and carrying a brief case might lead to problems.

If I pull a weapon I'd be going for a kill. I'd be happier if they just ran away. But that isn't something you can count on. But intimidation makes people run so if it made enough noise then maybe it would do the trick. otherwise i'm after 2 shots center mass.

Hell he had two shootings one a block away from my old office and it is in a decent part of town. Sounded like road rage. Also have had several Taxi Cab drivers get shot or cut up.

                              Here is my 2 cents:
I have a Walther PPK .380 caliber. It is small, light, accurate, and easily concealable under a suit. It only has a 6 round capacity but that keeps the profile very slim so it won't be noticeable. I have carried it for years and I have no complaints.
I recommend Hydrashock ammo for stopping power since a .380 doesn't match up to a .40 cal or other heavier loads.

You also mentioned blank ammo? 1 word....don't. If you aren't ready to kill someone then you are better off not carrying a pistol in the first place. Besides, blanks can cause firing malfunctions which could mean your death in a gunfight.

                              Good luck.

I had considered a Walther PPK, it was near the top of my list.

I was kidding about the blanks, I was just making light of the fact that I doubt I will ever need to be carrying the gun. And if I did I'd be going for a kill but I'd just a soon have them run away.

But when it comes down to my saftey I'm the only one that counts.
