why are you shooting after you kick to back him up? your forcing him away and then you have to chase after him for the shot. there are better options..
      1. throw hand combos up top to raise his defense and shoot under it.
      2. wait for his attack, if there punches shoot under, if there kicks evade and follow in.( remember when you commit you go 100%, if you hesitate half way or stop when you meet any resistence your screwed)

the biggest problem with throws is you must enter a clinch to use them and if you can't punch you way there it probably ain't going to work

You could clinch, or you could pull guard.

But, don't shoot low when his hands are there for you.

Drop your hands low so his target is high. When he goes for the head with a kick or punch, shoot low. Take a single leg from a side (45) angle instead of straight on.

Learn a second and third option for when he stops your motion. For example, immediately drop into an ankle pick. Or drop and drive your right shoulder into his shin while cupping his heel so he can't step back. Or cross grip his arm and take his back.
