Christian group says martial arts are a big no no...
Mild 7
You correctly stated that passage which is found in Luke 22:36 (if anyones interested)
This "group" are what I call puritists,5 point calvinists, etc. They are extremists. You have those in other religions(eg. Muslims), but they are not the norm.
Notice all their scripture is based on KJV (king james version)the authorized version(they mean the 1611 version)
Believe me I know because I debate with these "militanats"
all the time. This a clear indication that they are extremists. Their predestination position also gives it away.
Believe me, like Mild 7 confirms, the Bible is all for self defense.
I wonder how many people are aware that Christianity probably has the bloodiest history of any other religion. The Crusades, the Inquisition and whatever else was done "in the name of God."
Bloodshed in the name of God was very wrong and it is a horrific page in history at that, but we must realize that much hedonism and carnage in the name of atheism has been done as well, ifnot much more. The only difference is that when an atheist acts immoral, he/she is acting in logical consistency where he/she believes there are no right or wrong. When the christian is being immoral, he/she is being inconsistent with the principles of what christianity is all about. I think all religions must answer to this problem as well, not just christianity.
I agree with you completely. I find it ironic that there are Christians who believe that martial arts are on the bad side of sinful while the Christian history is rather filled with carnage. Most of it due to arrogance on the part of the Christians performing this mindless bloodshed that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Only on the part of some, not all. Just like everything else, there is a radical faction that can give the whole group a bad name.

Praise Jesus! He's a Texan!
He's the leader of the Republican party!
He carries a .45, smokes air-pulluting cigars, and his goal is to screw the working man whilst giving all the tax breaks he can to big business! Hallellujah!!!
And don't forget, he's against martial arts!

Wow that was some insane stuff! The first mistake is when you through tolerance out the window. I had a hard core fundamentalist christian try to tell me that every single native american that lived here before we got here were all damned to hell because jesus is the only way and they didn'y know jesus. That is really sad and scary that people can think like that.
I personally don't believe in hell. I do believe in god very much and I think he/she is great and loves us all. I think that god is happy with believers of all faiths as I am sure that god is far too big to contain in one tiny sect of religion. Also, god is the ultimate creator, not just of the earth and us..but of the arts as well. Let me tell you, grappling with Rickson? shya! Get on the mat with the big man...now thats jiu-jitsu!
