I just checked the PRIDE FC website and theyre accurate and include pretty much all professional fighting(MMA) events even KOTC, CR, IFC, and even GFC. According to Pride, Rickson is 9-0 in his overall pro mma record, and only 2-0 in Pride! Sure hes had many MMA or VT fights in Brazil, but not 350 or some other triple digit number. F.Y.I., all the other Gracies kind of suck in MMA, especially Pride Fc, except for Royce
First off, I would love to see Rickson vs Big Nog, thats like a dream match, I have a feeling it would be nog trying to stand up though which wouldnt really be a dream match as ... yeah... but if it was on the ground.. dream match...
Anyway, while I dont agree with the 400-0 record he is 10-0 in mma.
He doesnt have a very impressive MMA record compared to others, and there are many fighters I think he would lose to, but for icecreamandbeer to say that his grappling is poor, and that he would get beat easily by top guys today, thats just ... wierd...
It's Rickson Gracie man, personally I prefer the Royler variety of Helio Gracie's son (crab walk and all boarspear (if that even was royler, might be wrong)), but its Rickson Gracie.
The only person the Gracies, and many of BJJ/Grappling elite say is better than Rickson is Rolls, and while Rickson may have a undefeated tournament/mma/challenge record, I've read interviews with Gracies saying Rolls wiped the floor with Rickson.
That still doesnt change what most of them say about Rickson, I'm not sure how active he is now, but man, you cant just deny Rickson's grappling skills straight out like that, in a BJJ competition he would be the favorite against anyone in the world IMO.
WTF Where do you get that? How is what i believe to be true, lying?
Show me the great Rickson fights....there are 390 im real interested in seeing
Only think I can think of are his fights in Vale Tudo, BJJ competitions (he was unbeaten in those for 16 years), and I guess they count the fights where guys came into the dojo to fight (watch Gracies in Action vol1 &2, Rickson does beat a few guys in those) and his street fights which are subject to Royler and the others saying he won. Regardless, there isnt anyone claiming to have beaten him at anytime except Mark Tripp who beat Rickson in a Sambo match, which is documented (Rickson said he didnt know the rule that if your back touches the ground, you automatcially lose, funny though, he was National Sambo Champion at the time, you'd think he knew what the rules were).
Rickson was the best BJJ competitor ever, Rolls wasnt around long enough to dispute that. Had Rickson been 24 years old 7 years ago, with the guys he'd be training with in MMA and BJJ, he would be an awesome MMA fighter and probably still be PRide Champion at 185lbs. He wouldnt be UFC champ, with its 5 minute rounds, it hardly recognizes any BJJ skills and calls for roided out monsters to avoid takedowns, to avoid being mounted and to throw punches or GNP. There isnt the technique required to be great in UFC, which is needed in Pride with its longer rounds and lack of a cage.

See i agree with eveything you said up untill you said something about Rickson being pride champ at 185(its 183 by the way)if he was younger....no matter what rickson wouldnt do good....because of his philophsy that all he needs is jiu jitsu and that MMA fighters of today suck because they do everything instead of only one thing(dont know what hes smoking) he basically said that because he knows that he could never beat the likes of silva liddell couture rampage bas and all the others.Rickson might of been the best jiu jitsu guy ever but it really dosnt matter in MMA.Also you have it backwards with the whole ufc/pride thing.First off ufc tests for roids and pride dosesnt so there goes that theory....and pride with its long ass first round makes it so that stalling is basically encouraged..see Ryo Chonan vs Nino Schemebri.UFC makes the round shorter so that it encourgaes the fighters to fight agressively and get the submission instead of just waiting for the person to make a mistake...you should force them to make the mistake in the first place. Its much easie with the 10 minute round to just stall in your guard all day and not have to worry about the stand up...but not in the ufc..if your stalling they stand your ass back on the feet and make you pay for your borining ways.I love MMA as a whole but that 10 minute first round really needs to go...pride would be better off without it.

After watching a bunch of Rickson Gracie fights, I'm actually pretty impressed. He's a good puncher, very athletic (unlike Royce). Unlike Royce, he doesn't bring opponents into his guard, instead he goes for superior position, then sinks in the submission. Of all the Gracies I've seen in pro fights, his are by far the most impressive.
We all know he was the best MMA fighter in HIS time, but what is suprising, is the fact that he barely went into guard since he had more of a wrestling stradegy(get the takedown at all costs) and pretty much all of his fights were won from mount/sub. from mount.

His MMA fights were all won be submission. His other 390 fights we are not sure how he won them or if he actually fought against real people or imaginary opponents. We do know that no one has ever beaten him in any fight that has stepped forward, save maybe Marco Ruahs who went to Ricksons dojo in Brazil back in the day and they fought to a draw with, as opposed to what is written above, Rickson held Marco in his guard for 45 minutes before they called it even...thats the rumor anyway and makes sense because Ruahs is one tough mutherfuker and would have given Rickson a good fight if not beat him
