Well the reason people disdain ranking systems is because in the home country of this art there is no such thing at all, it is what other countries have adopted to appease their useless participants heh. Even if you suck you can still reach instructor status after just 3 years and no fight experience!!! Kind of silly even if a certain school is producing excellent fighters.
In Thailand an instructor has had hundreds of full contact fights with no protective gear besides boxing gloves. He earned his respect and recognition by doing it.
No there are not different levels of instructor, that is another Western incarnation.
