You rarely saw them throw a kick or knee. It looked like they were uncomfortable with thier tools. All they mainly did was jab/cross/hook stuff.
I have not seen the documentary in question, though I have heard of it here and on the UG. If I'm not mistaken, the matches featured were bareknuckle, which is a different game than standard muay thai. The kicks and knees are much fewer, because the fighters don't wish to put themselves in a bad position for a bare knuckled counter-attack. Usually when kicks are thrown, they teach the fighter to pull the head back as well, (kind of a lean away thing) to avoid running into difficulty from counter punchers who eat the kick a little on the way to throwing a straight right over the kick. I hope that makes sense if you can visualize it.

As far as Kit's opponent and his ability is concerned, I have no idea what the "real deal" is. Since it was done for a show, things can be produced and edited in different ways. The bottom line is, Kit probably didn't know who he was he getting into the ring with... it could have been a mad killer with the fix in and instructions to brutalize the foreigner, the guy could have been a walk, or the producers might have actually tried to match Kit as closely as possible. Whatever the case, he traveled all the way across the world to get into the ring with an unknown, (bare knuckle none-the-less) and put it on the line. Congratulations Kit on a wonderful experience, I'm sure.

      1) he got in a ring - it scares the shitouta me every time i do it, even amateur interclub bouts - this deserves respect from fellowfighters

      2) in Thailand

      3) with a Thai

      4) bareknuckle

It wasn't with just any "Thai" it was with some of their best.

TTT for Kit and man, don't give up Muay Thai. Practice BJJ, fight in KOTC, but don't give up MT!

          Dude,
Never met you, but saw you front kick the hell out of late Alex Gong in probably the fight of your life. Dont let the wannabes diss you for what you accomplished in the ring. Some of the real thaiboxers in the US still recognize you for what you are regardless of MTV b.s. Continue to be what you are and cant wait to see you in the King of the Cage matches also.

Who the "F" is that guy?

I just found this forum from google. I was quite disappointed to learn that there is someone else on here claiming to be me. Who the hell are you? There is no way in hell I would ever say something like "keep it real". Popedaddy will vouch for me on this one.

Morkul - Watch it again dude. The only reason we may have seemed uncomfortable is because it was Bare F'n Knuckle! And if you noticed I threw a few low kicks. Enough so, that Mojo couldn't walk about an hour after the fight. For all you other wannabees: Mojo just happened to be the Burmese National boxing champion.
And yes, with a small amount of fights I have still beat the best in the world from Japan, Thailand, Canada, Holland, The U.S. and now Burma.

                Billywest -
Yep, I'm the same guy. That was a war with Francisco! It was only my 2nd boxing fight and his 15th. I did have a lot of fun in that fight though. The round that I went down in, by the way was a 3min. 30sec round. Yeah, that's right. The commission ended up giving me a "no contest" about 3 months later. No, not boxing anymore. It's just not my thing. I'm a Thaiboxer. Tell your boy I said hi. I have a ton of respect for him. He took some really hard shots and still kept in there.

kit.... when you guys fought that was fran's pro debut, he had 14 amature fights prior but wanted to turn pro because he was pushing 30 at the time, in fact he had just had his 30th b-day a month before your fight you were the guy' w/ the expierience! anyway i'll tell him you said hey, he hasn't fought in like a year but is probably going to come back soon anyway while i got your ear why do you think kickboxer's can't seem to cut it in boxing? with the exception of vitali & dorsey who where full contact and maybe a few thais at the lower weights?

sorry for interrupting BW & KIT, but that's a keen observation. From my observation seems like a lot of kickboxers originally start from a karate/kungfu background and bring a certain set of skills that can be turned into kickboxing quicker than boxing. They would like to be able to use their entire body to score points or a KO since they have some use of hands and extensive use of kicks.

Boxing is a more focused game and in some ways more demanding than kickboxing. I have noticed that any improvements I make in boxing make me a significantly better all round fighter as a kickboxer, whereas mostly conditioning in kickboxing adds to my boxing game.

                    Sorry for hijacking this one...

                      Kickboxers boxing

Billy, You are sorely mistaking! First off I am not a kickboxer, but a Thaiboxer. Secondarily, Most Thaiboxers do well in boxing, but have no passion for it. Me, for instance. I have no doubt that I have the ability to be a world champion boxer, this is confirmed by one of the best boxing trainers alive in Floyd Mayweather Sr. But, I found it boring in comparison. If you do not have the passion for the sport it is impossible to succeed. This holds true for most Thaiboxers.

                        Tom Yum-

Interesting view. How can boxing be a more focused game when you are concerning yourself with one quarter of the tools. Unless you mean just focusing on those tools in which case you can say that it is more focused because it is more simple.

Of course your "kickboxing" cannot help your boxing while the reverse occurs. One brick will help you build a house, but a house will not help you build a brick.

Yeah, I meant that boxing's game focuses on sharpening one set of tools and making them effective in long range and inside. You can still box effectively in the kicking range. The Europeans have earned success in muaythai by making themselves really focused in the boxing range, like Dekkers and Hoost.

I shouldn't have said that boxing requires more conditioning than muaythai, because that's not true. There's something about the mentality of the sweet science that you can't put into words that makes it difference.

I don't want this to come across as a boxing vs. muay thai thing, because both disciplines are awesome and deadly. but billywest pointed out that only a few kickboxers make a transition into the boxing phase - I guess some counter examples are Klitschko and Lucia Rijker.

PS - I don't watch MTV or tv alot. What weight class do you fight in?

                            kickboxing to boxing

hey, hey, calm down now compadre' sorry for calling you a "kickboxer" i didn't think that was any kind of a put down and if you read my post kit. i think you'll see that i said some thai's have done very well in the lower weights even winning titles, but those are thai's not americans or europeans. HOWEVER i have not seen any of your peer's make a successfull transition and they look like open class amatures when they are boxing example- john parr i guess he is trying but he was sort of exposed in his last boxing match, all's i'm saying is it seems that if you guy's are the best in the world at THAIBOXING then why aren't any of you makeing a dent in boxing?(most of ya'all can't get past the journeymen of the sport) and getting some real money, and don't give me its cuz i love the sport and would do it for nothing! we all love are sports that we fight in but we all love tha cash too! then again you might be just a crazy white boy doin' this for the rush with a rich ma & pops .....and hey kit man i know rodger and floyd sr and floyd sr tell everyone they could be a world champion if they work with him! come on now thats just how the man talks
