  • tiger balm?

    Hey guys.
About 2 months ago I accidently stood on my toes on the mat while working the pads. After that the it hurted at the balls of my feet and also on the upper side (where the toes begin). Loving the training I went on training for a long time, hitting the toes a bit now and then, which of course hurted like hell because the muscels of the toes where already very tender.
Finally I decided to completely lay off kickboxning for a while. I held out for two weeks, and the foot felt pretty good, so I though that if I buy training shoes to keep the toes from bending I should be able to start training again with no problem; the remaining injury would heal up.
But as you know, you practically stand on the balls of your feet almost all of the time you train. So again the muscels felt very tired and tender.

So I guess now I will really have to restrain from training until the muscles are 100% healed. To speed things up, I've heard tiger balm helps.. is this correct in my case?
Does anyone have experience with this? Maybe some experienced trainer?
My god I need to get back in the gym, or soon I will break my chair from practising kicks on it!

ive used tiger balm. i have bad shoulders and one time i felt a huge ass pop in one of them when i threw a punch. after that my shoulder hurt and was so sore i couldnt even move it. my friend gave me some tiger balm. it helped alot. it gave my shoulder immediate relief and loosened everything up.i used it for a few days, and then took like 2 weeks off training to let myself heal well. tiger balm is very strong. i reccomend it.

also , wait till u are 100% healed up before getting back to ur routine, otherwise u will be prone to further injury.

Tiger also makes a Liniment that works just as well, but does not leave you feeling like a greased pig. Sounds like you just strained the muscles, and they can take sometime to heal, you probably just will need to try to limit the use for a while.

Go for the Tiger Muscle rub (the one in the tube) cause it doesn't make as much mess as the linament and is easy to apply. It's also handy to keep in your training bag, in case some muscles need some extra warm up.

Muscles are really tricky. Using them as often as we do can lead to some major problems. The tricky part is that muscles need 48 hours to fully recover from strenuous activities, but at the same time if not used, they begin to deteriorate after 72 hours. Go figure. I understand that for many of us going a day without training is just not an option. I myself train 5 days a week. I train in both: muay thai and bjj. One day I'm on my feet, brusing my shins; next day I'm on the ground bruising my back. So I decided to use regular strength tiger balm before each training to relax my muscles. After each training or at least every 2nd day I use muscle soaks. I use them a lot because they really help. The best one I found so far is made by AROMA

What is the differance between muscle soak and tiger balm? I haven't heard of muscle soak before...

                  muscle soaks

Tiger balm is obviously a very highly concentrated "cream" that relaxes muscles and "covers up" the pain.
Muscle soaks work in a simmilar way. But you use those while bathing or taking a shower. They pretty much do the same thing but they smell nicer and come in various forms.
Warm 15 minute baths with muscle soaks can really do wonders. I use them everyday that I train and it just allows me to recover faster and have my muscles ready for the next day. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

You can find it at any GNC or health related stores. Wherever they sell lots of body building products and vitamins, they will have tiger balm.

tiger balm and liniments are good but why hasnt anyone outlined the value of protein and amino acids for recovery
i used to train fairly hard at the gym and if u can get a product called L-glutamine it works wonders for recovery
