Master Sken has an excellent reputation in the UK, way above the cowboy MT instructors out there.

But maybe you know something we don't?

let's just say many of the muaythai instructors both outside and within thailand are not qualified. many are just boxers, they teach their experience from the ring. as some of you might know if you did some homework about muaythai, thai boxer fight for money because they were poor(in the present time)that's why they fight as young as 13, to send money to their families. true master are very rare, these master would know more than just the regular boxing ring techniques. they will first teach you how to not get hurt, then how to fall, roll, stand, block, open&close angles, then how to throw punches, elbows, kicks, knees. after serious trainning until you've mastered the basics(prob 1-2years) they will start to teach how to break, grab, throw, crouch over, disable the opponent's weapons(body parts), the most saddenning form is the "khata-aakom"(roughtly translated would be similar to black magic?) which is almost lost in the present teachings as it bad karma, it does hallucinations against your oppnent(seeing more than one of you, or won't see you), makes yourself lightweight, make yourself impenetreble(by weapons). i could go on forever...i think i just lost my point, anyways...you understood.
again, i apologise for offending anyone beforehand.

it's not bullshido, it's been in the thai tradition for thousands of years, if you ever came to thailand, you'd know that thais are very familliar with these extraordinaries(you might call it, but for us thais, it's proven), i wish i had time to explain it all to youguys. maybe if you have a thai MT. instructor around, you may ask them, about kha-ta-aa-kom(คาถาอาคม)
i'll leave you with one thai saying, "if you do not believe it, do not speak or do ill of it"

it's a sort of a tantra-buddhistic practice that they use saiyasard(i dunno what to translate this into, there's no comparison in the western belief, i'll just call it black magic aiight?) part of the original pre-fight dances are for these practices, as well as the prajead, mongkhol, pirod, kwanfa, tagrud...if you know what these are, they are blessed items or cloths wrapped on head, arm, fist for protection.

but then again, it's kinda hard for me to single handedly explain to a westerner about south east asian cultures...shame

interesting, ive never heard of this before. However i personally find it hard to believe anything about making hallucinations of yourself or being impenetrable to weapons. If i see it Ill believe it, until then Ill just follow what your little thai quote said.
