  • Rules for Muay Thai

    Is there anyone on here that could tell me the rules to amateur thai boxing in the uk?

    I asked my instructor if it was possible to do a fight next year.
    He said to do a few amateur ones for ring experince, I should have asked there and then, but it slipped my mind.

    If there is anyone that could help me I would be greatful.

    Thank you.

    All depends on what rules you are fighting under full thai or european rules? more likely european no knees or elbows to the head to start of with.

      Don't quote me on this as I don't fight myself, but I believe it's the same rule as professional bouts with a few exceptions...

      Body shield and head guard to be worn, sometimes shin, elbow and knee protection;
      3x3 minute rounds with a minute break in between;
      Must be between the age of 17-37.

      Regardless of rules, you should go for them. I always hear about the need for ring experience so even if the fight doesn't count towards your record it's well worth it.
