1)It cannot be overstated (IMHO) how much stress you can add or remove from your experience by being prepared for the test. Learn the vocab. Study the test material. Learn the vocabulary right now. Don't show up at camp and have to cram for a test when you want to be napping. Learn the vocab now. Um... yes, study the test.

    2) In the afternoons there are often little mini-seminars from various people (Sifu Leonard Trigg, Khru Greg Nelson, Ajarn Inosanto, etc). If you are cramming for the test, you will miss these sessions... so study your test now.

    3) Part of the fun of this camp is rubbing elbows with great trainers, fighters and martial artists from around the country and world. You can't enjoy lunches with these people if your desperatly cramming for the test. So study your vocab before you go

    4) I think I made my point.

As Long As Gregimotis Has Spoiled This Year's Surprise

If you have loaned out your copy of a past test, just remember the punishment run at Silver Falls is 3 miles as compared to 1 mile at Camp Wilkerson...

Or maybe I am a little early for April Fool Day...

to paraphrase Dirty Harry: "Whatta ya gonna do punk?"

The most important thing about the camp has always been to be in shape so you can have a good time, and be respectful of yourself. Many people come to the camp to take away something. The ones who get invited back come to give something.

Thank you very much for all your advice. I'm going to grab a copy of that test this week... Thanks again, and if anything else comes to mind please let me know.

So without risking punishment runs is there a way to prepare beforehand? The vocabulary list on the TBA main page I assume would be a safe bet. What other types of things are on the test? I could go on a reading spree.

The vocab on the site will comprise at least half the test. The other half will be questions mostly relating to the history of Thai boxing and Master Chai.

Keep in mind that past tests have been similar but not identical. Study the vocab - if you can nail that, then the rest will be pretty easy to learn in camp.

I have been informed that obtaining copies of old tests is not an acceptable method of study. This was my misunderstanding, apologies for the misinformation (post edited)

Well, I have been lobbying for years to change the test, so I see no problem at all with anyone trying to get an old copy. There are literally hundreds of tests floating around anyway.

                      Let's start the "Name campaign"

                      Ok,
So Bryan Popejoy is going to be a "Daddy" now, boy I guess the world actually does turn around on its axis.

I think he should name the baby after me, because for one thing, I'm just about the most handsome man that he proably knows, and for another, well.... the handsome thing again.

David Popejoy sounds good?????? I think.
Hope to be seeing the pictures soon Bryan.

Note to Bryan, (if Bryan even reads this) my daughter Meredith just had my second grandson, Henry Mason Thompson was born 4/8/06, thought he might like to know.

                      Later,
                      Dave

Before I can reply usefully to this thread, I must research Thai baby names. Be right back.
