I'm in Tucson, AZ. You're from VA? Do you do your Thai boxing at Linxx Academy run by Frank Cucci?

The only place in AZ I'm aware of is a place where Bob Karmel was teaching. I think its name had something to do with a "garage" or something. (Been a long time, I might not be remembering things correctly)

I have been down to his gym for a couple of MT events he held back in the mid-90's, and I run into him from time-to-time at seminars or events. His Linxx Academy is affiliated with Pedro Sauer for BJJ, and so is the gym I'm currently coaching at. I've never actually trained with him though.
