Please define them for me? and also where can I find them in the MD, DC, VA, PA area?

"Smokers" are unsanctioned matches that will not count against your "official" fight record. They are also referred to as "interclubs".

In the area you've specified, right now the closest you're going to find (that I personally know of) will be the WKA's Novice Events. Usually in Richmond or Fredericksburg, VA. The same day as the Combat Sports Challenge events, they have an all-novice event in the afternoons to allow fighters to get some ring time, and to also train officials (ref's/judges).
