  • Time commitment to train for fight

From your experiences what is a realistic amount of time needed per day to be competitive in amateur MT fights?
(combined time for cardio / strength / technique training)
    Thank You!

That's kind of a loaded question. Do you want to merely be competitive, or do you wish to be successful? If you only care about being competitive, you can probably get away with about 1-2 hours per day.

If you want to be successful, I would argue that your workout is just starting after 2 hours.... I used to train approximately 3 hours per day, 6 days a week when I was fighting.

Thank You. That pretty much goes along with what I was thinking. I've been out of the game for quite some time and am trying to determine if I can give enough of a commitment to be successful.
Being successful would be my only goal.

In my gym. If you are gona fight you need to do a brain scan. And a match test. That involves an hour of hard work and if the instructor are hapy you can fight. About 2 mounths before the fight you need to traine 5 days a week with first running before the training and then 2 hours of training. And allsow you need to learn the gyms dance. So you can dance before the fight.

I'm going to guess it's Ram Muay...although I guess it might be hip hop. Me, I wouldn't be too jazzed about pre-fight breakdancing.

The Best Way to prepare for a MT Fight is in THAILAND!!

Many in America GUESS about MT training BUT it is NOT until you go to Thailand do you really KNOW and understand what Muay Thai is all about. THEN you can see CLEARLY what you have to work on. Some need more time in ENDURANCE, others Flexibility or Defense or Offense or RELAXATION because everyone is different. Personally I focus totally on Thai PAD work and Sparring. This gets my workout times down and I get trained in what I personally need to FIGHT. If you are going to do a SWIM Race then start SWIMMING so if you are going to Fight in Muay Thai then GO to Thailand!!
