I don't think I understand you. Why can't he think the traditional sanskrit talesman is beautiful? I think it's beautiful.

I can't tell if you mean "you can't think religious things look good" or "if you're getting it 'cause it looks good, don't pick something religious" or what.

      You believe in God???
That's JUST as false to me...if not more so. Animisim (up until it gets into witchcraft) and animatism are simply ways of trying to explain and control natural phenomenon. Just like ****'in any other religion.

And yeah, might as well cover your bases, and at the same time get some bomb looking tats.

here is a good link with pics

I have a good friend who is Thai but grew up in Cambodia and is covered in
Sakyan, even his palms! I have asked him a little about it, he tells me they can be for many things but most often protection, and if the rules are not followed the protection is void. If you want a real one, go to Thailand, and find a tattoo Ajarn, otherwise you dont really know if what you have may be offensive or incorrect.

          about religion

if you're getting it 'cause it looks good, don't pick something religious or at least dont pretend to believe in it,and if you do im sorry and i will respect your newly aquired religion.

Why can't he think the traditional sanskrit talesman is beautiful? I think it's beautiful.
i think its beautiful too..even what it represents is

          who's implying it's false?

Religion is bullshit,it was created by humans like me and you to control the naive and ignorant...

          You believe in God???
well since you ask,yes i do believe in something you can call a god, because i admit ive experienced intense situations in my life..and sometimes very very ''too'' coincidential or lucky situations to be just a coincidence or luck.I believe there is something called a god but it is not the biblical or muslim or whatever one you may have seen or heard about..This is very hard to explain but everything that i was not able to give an explanation to in my life..i relate it to a god..in other words my god is is ''luck'' and/or ''insert here whatever you or nobody can explain''

What i am trying to say..is that i was never taught by anyone to beleive in what i beleive in..do you get my point?I was born a muslim but ive rejected the beliefs i was forced to follow and decided to beleive in what only I choose to beleive in...

That's why in my opinion, you should tattoo something that you really beleive in and that you chose to beleive in.Not just getting attracted to sanskrit symbols because you think the letters are cool and would like to make yourself beleive it represents something significant to your eyes.

If i were to worship anything..i would worship the sun,the oxygen, the water...it sounds silly but it still makes more sense than religion doesnt it? i mean thoses three things keep you alive but what did religion ever did for you, exept tell you what to do and what to beleive?

But if you talk about anmism and animatism..then it isnt really the religion as we know it.I admit thoses great stories you hear from the old shaman of the village are very entertaining and beautiful..but then again the aztec religion was very beautiful too..at least before they started the mass sacrifices..

anyways,we are all free to choose what we want to believe in and i admit that thoses of us who believe in something, whatever it may be,get to give a better sense to their lives from the start...if they think personaly and honestly without being forced to that it is the right thing to do and to beleive in.

but what sickens me is that all the religions either try to explain natural phenomenons(in the case of animism)...through igorance..
or either they are looking for a personal gain,or simply control over as many people as possible or simply to belong to a particular kind(islam, christanism, judaism principaly)

the only thing i inherited from being born muslim and taught islam is superstition.

Finaly the right thing to do is to beleive in what you want to beleive in it and keep it for yourself

I wasn't aware that there are any tattoos? If anybody has any, or the background I would like to hear it.

Hey everyone, I just came across this thread as I recently became interested in Sak Yant, the tattoos worn by some Thai fighters.
The article that sparked this interest was: Muay Thai tattoos , and it also includes a few pics of the tattoos.

They certainly are works of art, and I guess I might get one when I am in Thailand...
