btw i'm located in the los angeles and orange county areas of california... but am also willing to buy online as well

if you want some quality yet better priced stuff, combatsports international is a good place to get training gear.

ThaiSmai equipment is very good quality. However, that is the price PRE-shipping. Once you add shipping, the price almost doubles and it becomes the same price as almost any other brand.

I think their nylon shorts are some of the best on the market. Their gloves are good quality and will last a long time, but a lot of people have experienced problems with the inner lining tearing (I've had a pair for 4 years now with no tears)

Their Thai Pads are good. Last for years. We did get one with bad stitching once, though. But that was 1 pair out of about a dozen. And that was YEARS ago.

Their shin pads are "ok". Not my favorite. I like Windy's better.

If I had to rate brand names in order of quality, I'd have to say (overall) -

Windy & Twins would be the best.
Thaismai & Fairtex are the next best.

Bear in mind that each brand offers some gear that is higher quality than the other brands. I'm a fan of Thaismai apparel & accessories, their Thai pads, and their body protectors.

I would have to say that Windy makes the best gear all-around. Twins is close, but some of their apparel and gear isn't quite up to the same par as Windy. But close enough that I rate them similarly.

Fairtex gear is no longer as good as it used to be. I think that in the late 90's and early 2000's, Fairtex gear was on par with Windy & Twins, but it has slipped these last few years.

Another brand I really like is "Inter", but I don't have very much experience with their gear to honestly give them an overall rating. I personally think "Inter" makes the best Thai shorts. And I've heard good things about their pads.

Also keep your eyes out for "W" brand. I have heard very good things about their gloves and pads, too.

One note about ThaiSmai Thai Pads....

They are smaller and narrower than other brands, typically. I personally like that because I think it allows the Pad Holder more freedom of movement, but others might not like that as well

My observation is about Thai manufactured only. If you want the best quality, Fairtex can't be beat. But 8 years for a pair of gloves is stretching it by a long shot. My 8 oz "bag gloves" will last about a year, and my sparring gloves about 3 years. Twins ranks a close second. But look out for FBT brand. Their top of the line is of very good value. BTW I'm talking about the best products from each brand. Every brand has a complete line from best quality to so so quality.

I'm not trying to contradict you Khunkhao, but at Fairtex camp where equipments are maintained by their manufacturing facility, the pads would last 6 months at the longest. Also, I'm in love with their shorts. Full cut with no restriction to any movement. So light, you hardly feel it.
