I'm looking for a place that's selling the gloves, stomach pad, shin guards, any suggestions?

I generally don't spar with head gear due to the fact that I have yet to find a good one that will not restrict my vision and also not force me to modify the amount I have to move in order to slip punches. That's not to say that it is not an important piece of safety equipment. It will prevent superficial injury to the head and face (cuts and bruises) from accidental elbows and the oh-so-popular accidental head butt. Over a period of time, too much of that kinda thing can make you ugly unless your defenses are quite good.Originally posted by NickSo if I'm sparring with a mouth piece and big gloves, is the headgear important to have as well?
Most of the information I've read over the past 10 years or so seems to point to the fact that headgear does little if anything to lessen trauma to the brain during the impact of punches, kicks, etc. though.

thaicollectible.com is safe. My gym has used it many times in the past, though we now go through combatsports.com

Okay, thanks for the help guys. One more question:
For head gear and chest pads, generally, how big is medium, large, and extra large? Maybe it's impossible to answer, but these are the only sizes a lot of these places give. My head isn't really much bigger than normal, and I'm fairly slim, so would I be going for medium head gear and chest pad, or large? I'm about 5'8" as well.

I have purchased stuff from Fairtex on-line and have had mixed results. The items that they did have in stock I got quickly however, the one item that was on backorder never shipped and after 4 months of harassing them I gave up.
Just my .02 worth
