  • muay thai question

i was wondering..i saw that movie The Protector and Tony Jaa (main character) breaks a large amount of bones in that movie..will muay thai teach the same knowledge that Tony Jaa used? or is that variety of arts?

I wouldn't use the movies as a guide for martial arts.

If you study muaythai, you'll learn how to throw some hard kicks, knees, elbows and a good amount of western boxing. Plus you'll get to use it all while sparring (starting out slowly first).

as TOM YUM stated, MuayThai will train you to attack with great strength. If you learn the techniques well, you will have the potential to break bones, but the Tony Jaa movies are really "theatricized".... to put it mildly

I agree it is a little blown out of proportion, but those older styles of Muay-Boran & such I feel are far more effective for street defense. Having trained for 12 years now in Muay-Thai, I really see alot of the advantages of these older arts & frankly wish they would not go away but come to life from true Thai masters. Help set the record straight.
