  • What do you think of LA Boxing?

It's a franchise. The local one has a Kru. My instincts tell me it's probably a superficial cash-cow.

They can be alright. A number of LA Boxing locations have had legit MuayThai instructors. But you have to take notice of their business model to see if this is what you want.

The regular group classes are meant to focus on giving you a good workout, but not a lot of focus on actually teaching you technique. They want you to keep moving, get your heartrate up, and sweat alot. The classes are fun and you WILL get a good workout, but you aren't necessarily going to be REALLY learning the sport.

To really learn, you then have to sign up for private instruction, which is on top of the membership fee you are already paying. You're going to get excellent instruction. Its just that you have to consider whether or not the expense is worth it to you.

You want to weigh a lot of factors to determine if its going to be good for you. I personally think LA Boxing is a great franchise with a good business model, but you have to determine if what they are offering meets your needs at a price that is reasonable to you.

For instance, who is the Kru? Do you think it'll be worth your time & money to sign up for a membership and pay for private instruction to train with him?

I thought the above was a very fair reply.

I might add, that L.A.Boxing can be more or less what you make of it. If you want to go in and train hard, and attend sparring nights, or even compete in local "Fight Nights", the instructors are going to be more apt to spend time with you and help you on technique whenever they're watching you.

Its like most places, instructors get motivated to teach those who are most motivated to learn.

The majority of the membership won't be as interested in "fine tuning" their technique, or training to fight Muay Thai or MMA, but there are always a lot of those people there too, and you'd probably be able to train with them.

One good thing is, they have weights and everything there, and its all good quality and new. And the place is very clean and professional... I like that!

I've seen some MMA fights and Muay Thai on YouTube that were held at L.A. Boxing..... just do a search for them.

I'm a member there, and I love it. $69/mo did not sound bad to me at all. The other places I checked were all more than that.
