  • starting muay thai

    Hello all,

I am starting muay thai training in a few months. I want to get a head start in resistance weight training, and cardio before I start.

does anyone have any tips or insight in conditioning my body before I take this up. I dont want to start a muay thai class and not be able to kick head height or
be unable to fully twist my body etc.

    many thanks

Don't worry about kicking head high. That comes with practice and time.

    Try crossfit.com

I'd focus on body-weight resistance (calisthenics) and running for conditioning for a while. Once you get the fundamentals down after 6 weeks to 2 months of training, I'd add weight training.

I suggest that you start to get used to run in th morning as a routine , to change your eating habits , take some stretching classes if you are able , mos the most important thing is to be mentally prepared because MT really is no easy thing to learn though it doesn´nt seem so complicated. Physical trainning will help you a bit if you do it two months at least , if you are so worried , then visit your doctor.
