If you really love something then you want to know as much as possible about it.
Burmese swords are closely related to Thai swords and are damn beautiful too, so yes
I would like to collect more swords but for now I am very happy with the four I have.
I think your teacher didn't teach you how to respect and appreciate swords, and
it's odd because every teacher I have talked to deeply respects swords.

I think you didn't read this thread carefully because there is a clip showing Burmese
    sword techniques or form.

Respecting swords is bcoz it can save your life and be with you like a body part!but over course of time, people start to respect swords not knowing what's the real intention to do so!nowadays, people respect bcoz their elders respected!Blindly respecting a sword is like a disgrace to the art!

First thing, most people in Thailand do not blindly respect swords. They are aware that swords were used to protect their land and families and old swords are truly respected for what they are and for what their real usage has been.
Second thing, there is tremendous work and tradition behind traditional sword making and sometimes there are religious engravings on them as well as blessings by monks, like before battles.
It is also a spiritual thing not only a martial one.

Wanarat doesnt know what he is talking about no less doing. if you gave him a knife or a sword he would just cut himself and do harm to his own body. he is a disaster to himself and he disgraces everything that is thai and martial arts. Retards like him belong in an insane asylum.

Swords all look nice;stick to something that'll be for everyday use;don't change over from broad to narrow.

Swords and other weapons, along with their use are great for understanding strategies in war.
Swords have different shapes, length, weight and all bring you different concepts and skills that translate to other weapons, with some small differences. I can apply the movements and stratedy to stick like weapons easily.
Just look around and you will see others doing that.

I'm interested in the usage of the Burmese swords and tactics, they were able to invade Siam twice and this says enough in my opinion. So yes Lanna sword is kind of a nice blending of the Burmese and Thai sword systems which makes it unique in the Thai landscape, plus I heard some Thai tribes near the Burmese border still employ swords and guns in guerilla-type actions to defend themselves, which to me kind of draws a distinct line that separates the true usage and tactics and the modern usage in which the original work is lost.
Up on the border between thailand and burma, there was alot of fighting and commerce, and probably it still goes on when things flare up. One thai teacher told me he actually learned from a burmese teacher and thats makes sense. They battled each other in so close a space that the influences and the ability to counter each other was probably very strong.

I agree, the northern systems are very beautiful and good because of this unique blending. They have been tested until recently as you said and they haven't lost the true purpose of defending and killing. There still are old and younger teachers who learned with one another and I believe some of the old masters are still alive up north, and their systems have been taught and are still kept alive and practiced.
