Like Bill Wallace I was taught how to throw most of my kicks from both regular chambers and from just the front kick chamber.

I have good power in my front kick and have been able to use them in the ring to the point where the other fighter did not know what kick hit them only that they were hit in the face.

    It's all in the execution.

The front snap kick is for specific purposes, the Front Thrust kick is for others, and then the straight leg swing is for others.

I like to convert my front kicks to round kicks to the neck, people reach for the slower front kick to block and it spins up outside the gaurd and over the hands to the neck. Then torque the body.

    Good for knockouts.

Although I am new to these forums, and new to martial arts (I love hand to hand combat), I can tell you something about TKD I learned the hard way...

Ever heard of the axe kick? It is done by bringing your leg up strait, with your foot almost to your nose (takes long time to train this I am told), and the heel is snapped down...

You don't even understand how powerfull this kick is! I was hit in the nose by a red belt (one under black at this guys club) and my nose is bent a differnt direction now. If it hit your shoulder, it would no doubt shatter your collar...

before I tore my hamstrings I used to love to hit people with that kick.

But you have to be fairly skilled to throw it just because it can be dangerous to the kicker if countered properly.

But most people do react properly to kicks because they haven't trained them and they have a tendency to do the exact wrong thing and then they get blasted.

          front kick

ROFL the front kick is weak you say???? The front kick is one of the fastest and most powerfull kicks in the book! the simplicity of its motion causes it to be extreemly effective. Lets not diss the mighty front kick, prince of foot techiques.

Azzazzin in a REAL fight bringing your leg so high could get you buried, I wouldn't wanna run that risk. If you did it to someone like me then you'd missing a knee. Powerful doesn't mean EFFECTIVE!

Watch a UFC fight or any other for that matter. When the attacker runs up on the defender, the defender uses a front kick, does it stop the attack dead in his tracks, NO, so it is weak in that instance.

Like I said you have to bring you knee up then swing you leg out. Bringing the knee uo is telegraphing the kick. Stop kicks will get cha every time.

eXcessiveForce, kicking to the head on the streets is #1 no no. I'm glad you specified in the ring.

Ok, lets say you got your opponent on the ground, and you have no experience in BJJ, or other ground arts...

You could run away from him, but lets just say he did something bad to you and you want to finnish him off...

If you drop your heel on him, your gone! My friend is 3rd degree TKD, he told me it's amazing kick

The last time I saw someone use a front kick in the UFC his opponent was blasted gainst the cage. Frontkick works. End of story.

Agreed. Retired, what weight division are you (~60kg)? The guy that you flattened looks like he might be 10-20kg heavier than you. Excellent delivery! I've been told not to start off a match with a rear legged round kick for that reason. Just curious, how many kicks do you throw during training and what is your approach?

I should have specified, I mean the fron SNAP kick. The push kick to me is like a jab, a set up technique for a low round house or low lead kick. As stated before do what you do.

i used to fight in the 68-75kg bracket but i was plagued with injurys & seemed to catch colds or flu easy (why is this when your so fit?) & as you seen in my broken leg thread that i decided enough's enough, that fight was probably the greatest fight of my life as it was a top of the bill fight & the only thai fight of the night (all others were kickboxing which went the distance) & i ko'ed him with the ko you can see in the first round, although i block & countered some of his kicks the ones that got in especially to the inside of the leg hurt like shit, after that fight when i woke the following morning my legs failed to work & i had to slide down the stairs on my bum, crawl over to the settee and i couldn't walk for 3 days (had to phone in work sick) & i was the one that won?
he was supposed to be my weight but fighters always look bigger than me when your 6'4, (in my days you just turned up & fought who was there sometimes 1 stone heavier or more).
i'm hoping to get somemore info/stretching/fights etc.. on this site when i can get time on here (woman just don't understand) so enjoy & have a laff
