I have no problem with people not wanting to fight in the ring, but the second I see them badmouth it and cut it down I'm going to call it for what it is. You're a pussy and you wouldn't last 2 seconds in the ring and your ego is causing you to talk smack because you truly want to believe you could knock out Mike Tyson and other full contact ring fighters. Dream on from your couch while sipping your beer lardbutt. HA!

No no I'm mostly joking and ranting about people going out of their way to badmouth ring fighting. You were not the object of my joking rant.

that's ok then as i'd have to kick your head in with ultimate thai you little shit

EDIT: everybody needs to realise why they first started MA in the first place, mainlly to look after yourself, fitness & some like to compete & any MA can help in this tkd included (not the sporty stuff ) AND Thai is not the be all & end all of MA (less of this crap about equal fighter vs equal fighter) its like matching a judo guy with a boxer they arent compatible BUT put the two together and you end up with a more usefull art (blah blah bruce lee jkd), sports tkd & the stuff iv'e seen in some tkd gym's are not the same (and this is coming from a thai guy people!!!!).

Before you all rant about thai harder than tkd I started thai to protect myself & get fit but i could just as easily trained in some local tkd gyms i know who have adapted (not stolen) their technique's to aid in defence which i have seen work (it aint always about the hardest MA but more how you as a person is able to use it because if you fall apart in that surprise attack then any MA means jack shit).

          my 2p again

So what are you going to do then? be a bum & cause street fights (the ones that last a few seconds, look totally crap & you walk away learning nothing)
Fighting in the ring is not 100% nexessary IMO, if you want to do it then great but I dont think I will. maybe things will change when my instructor asks me too do it, who knows.

But, I only like to put myself at risk when I have to really. Your leg is one great example of why I prefer not to put myself in danger just for fun

I dont think i was putting myself in danger for fun? & my accident had many underlying reasons to it happening, but your going to have to fight in some shape or form to know if what your learning is any good & i dont mean fighting with people in the gym as no matter how hard it is it's still more artificial as there's aint any of the fear factor or nerves when you already know the person & his techniques.

Im not saying you have to fight but doing something is better than nothing at all.

Retireds injury is an extremely rare occurance, if it were common it would be on TV here in Thailand all the time as there are multiple televised fights every day..... and that's not counting the many non televised fights were peoples legs DO NOT snap in half haha.

My first fight here so far left me with a couple of injuries but they healed fine. There is always risk (just like any rough activity really ie. Rugby etc.)but that is the decision I make so that I can challenge myself.

Nothing wrong with not fighting, just don't knock it as it sounds like fear talking. Many things scare us in life, doesn't mean they are bad.... in fact most of them are good for us.
