  • which part of the shin to use ?

Does anybody know which part of the shin you use to block ? Is it the upper part because there's the thick part of the tibia ? Or is it lower so you can deflect more with it ? or is it more situation related ? I suppose when you deliver a low kick , you will use the mid section of the tibia bone .
    Thanks for your input .

Remember that nothing in Muay Thai is ingrained in stone. There are different strategies and variations for most techniques, even the shin block.

That being said, you typically want to shin block with the knee or very upper part of the shin bone, directly under the knee. The bones are a lot thicker here and have extra support from the knee joint.

Also depends on where the kick is aimed, too. A really low roundhouse kick (submarine kick or cut kick) cannot be blocked with the knee, obviously.
