  • Khun Kao a few questions plz...

    1) when you block a body kick do you raise your planted foot's heel like when you are kicking?

2)When you jab-cross-kick do you twist your hips when you punch? Because our Thai trainer is telling us not to.

IMHO, there is no firm rule in either scenario.

Whether or not you stay on your supports foots toes while blocking a kick depends on what you are trying to do. If you are in a more defensive posture, you may be resting your weight back (though I hesitate to say that you will be all the way back on your heel). But if you're preparing to immediately counter, damn straight you're going to be on your toes!
    LOL

Now, as far as rotating when you punch, again, it depends. There are multiple ways to throw the JAB-CROSS-ROUNDKICK combo. Think of it like this, your instructor is currently teaching you a VERY SPECIFIC version of the combination in question. So in the VERY SPECIFIC version that you are currently being taught, you don't rotate as you punch. But there are other variations of the same combination where you DO rotate.
