  • TKD - Kickboxing

Has a TKD practicioner ever done well in kick boxing? I figure since they pride themselves on their kicks, they should do well in kickboxing....

But then again, I know a lot of TKD practicioner's are a little delusional when it comes to REAL fighting....

I am not asking for an argument, I am asking for history and statistics. Not theories or opinions.

Sure there's lots of delusional TKD artists out there.... you get that when you have MILLIONS of TKD practitioners worldwide..... meaning with that many out there, you're going to get alot of losers in with the good guys.

Many many successful kickboxers got their start in TKD, they just don't advertise it. Mike Miles comes to mind off the top of my head.

As for myself... I'm yet to see how successful I'll be. I've had one fight in Thailand that I won with a "stereotypical" TKD technique. I'm moving to Thailand in December and plan to fight some more so I'll see if I can continue being successful.

I wrote a thesis for my 4th degree test in TKD all about the use of TKD in full contact venues and basically it just says: With the proper training, TKD can be used successfully in the ring.
