    Tattoos

You're right, tattoos are very personal things. Personally I think all the examples I've seen in this thread look like shite, but that's just my opinion. If you like them then it is of course entirely your choice.

Whatever you choose, I think you should be very careful, because you're going to be stuck with it for life (unless you fork out to have it lasered, but that doesn't always remove them 100%.) Bear in mind that your tastes will change over time and that your circumstances may change too. Do you really want the name of an MA school you go to now to be tattooed on your skin? What if you change to another one at some point - will you end up with a row of them down your arm?

Choose well, and I hope you don't end up regretting it!

      I think Tatoos are cool.
I decided I will only wear tatoos from my tribal tatoo from my birthplace (Tahiti) so be it.
I have them in my arm, right leg, left anlge and right angle.
All my brothers are doing different MA.
My Dad always always wonder why.
      He was never into MA.
Tatoos and MA training might be a 'natural' instincts that some people have as a way of 'belonging' and unformal advancement in a modern society that only cares about schools and grades. Who know?

My feelings regarding permanent ink on my body are the same as for bumper stickers on cars; "Ive never seen a bumper sticker on a car I'd want to own."

Hey, what about brandings, like Kwai Chang Caine in "Kung Fu"? A tiger and a dragon on the inside of each forearm, made by lifting a cauldron of glowing embers with your arms, then collapsing on the snow? You can't get much more "martial arts" than that!

Caught up in a wave of patriotic fervor after 9/11, I went out and got a tattoo of a big Amuhrican Eagle on my back. The tattoo guy seemed a little depressed at the time, which was understandable, considering what had just happened and all...

My wife walked into the shop and took this picture while he was in the middle of doing the whole thing. She was a little upset 'cause the guy had shaved all the hair off my back and wouldn't let him continue, which was silly of her 'cause it all grew back again in about a week.

I do get a lot of comments on the ink when I go to the beach or when I dance topless on lady's night down at the "the Meet Rack".

That has got to be the funniest tattoo I have ever seen,I would never put a cow on my stomache but it is funny I have to admit.

Anyways,I'd really like to know what does a cow have to do with a martial arts tattoo? This thread is for people who have ideas for martial arts tattoos or have some of their own.A cow isn't a martial arts tattoo.

Ya but that's the difference between someone like you and me,you got your tattoo at too young an age,I got my first one in my early 30's old enough to know what the hell I was doing and now want second one in my mid 30's(I'm 35).Also I 'm not swearing to be a martial artist like you were with skating,I already am a martial artist.

You never hear of Kowrate? The deadly style of self-defense through unmitigated bullshit? The southern style is particularly impressive.

Which 'Yin and Yang' are you referring to? I can't see any yin-yang symbol anywhere in this thread.
