what are you thoughts on them? I know most MT guys will say "use the knee" but, if you were using the elbow to the body how would you do it?

Just a very simple example would be to lift the opponent's cross, slide diagonally under and elbow the ribcage. After this you can poke-knee the leg to stop him from coming forward. The whole side and much of the back will then be exposed to your attack.

My fighters and I train a LOT with elbows to the body. I should preface this with the fact that the rules of amateur competition usually only allow elbows to the body, if at all. Since I have no pros yet....
Forward spiking elbows (in between their guard), Horizontal Elbows (after lifting their punch), punch-elbow combo, jumping axe elbows to the shoulders or axe elbow to the body, spinning elbows to the belly or ribs....

i would say 4 would be the best because you can simultaneously protect yourself from the cross. plus your aiming for the solar plexus with that elbow so you can knock the breath out of the guy
