What is everyones thoughts on footwear for self defense?

What would be your ideal piece of footwear? What you wouldnt want to be wearing? Would you ever take your shoes off (given the chance)? Pros and cons of each type of footwear?

Just a thread about footwear and how it relatesto self defense.

Personally I would go with just a regular running shoe.

Nothing is better than a pair of issue combat boots with steel toes and shanks. a close second would be the roach stomper or PFC (puerto rican fence climber) cowboy boots with pointy toes.

Can you run well with those steel toed boots on?

My steel toed workboots wouldnt be ideal to run in I know that. I also wouldnt get the nice flexibility that I would when wearing my running shoes. The flexibility is for my soccer kick to the head. I'm very particular about my soccer kicking technique.

im very picky about my ability to deliver head kicks as well, the steel toed boots work great for kicking/stomping you in the head once i throw you

running? what you chase people after they flee you in mortal panic? actually yeah dude you can run great in combat boots...i bet i broke several land speed records while i was active duty working E.O.D. (bomb squad, if you see me running....) but no one was around with a stop watch
