  • Street defence.

I know a guy that teaches JKD and also Rapid Arniss which I think is the same as Kali. This would probably be cool but I reckon JKD is alot like what i've already done in that it's a mixture of what works in street fights from alot of different disciplines. I am going to try my hand at Shoot Fighting.

I might have a go at Kali aswell though coz I watched the Dog Brothers and those guys are as skilled as you like. Their footwork alone makes their system look brilliant. They are also very good at focussing their agression.

I know that on the street Thai Boxing is good when standing and Juijitsu is good on the ground. I also think that if you try to learn too much at once there is not enough time in the day. I reckon that the Art of fighting without fighting sounds pretty good though also. Any views on street defence especially two on one or three on one scenario's would be appreciated?

Tant is correct, by Law you can carry a cane or rattan, as their haven't been modified to cause damage to people. I study Escrima Concepts, which is a armed and unarmed. We fight through Concepts, find them on

We don't mess around with the flicky crap of other Escrima styles, we are just pure reality combat.

What do you carry at present? If anything?

Don't carry a weapon at the moment. I can use rice flails though.

Ok to carry chucks, as long as you carry rice as well.

Carrying Chuck Norris around is definately a good idea for self defense

Aren't they a bit of a naff weapon mate. I mean, you pull out those and start whirling them about people are gonna think you some sort of LARPer or something. If you're going to carry, you might as well make it a good weapon.

Yeah, pretty much all the time. Sometimes I won't but you never know who's going to be stupid enough to take me on.

I would class the nanchaku as too dangerous as they inflict too much damage to the head when used correctly. I don't want to go to prison or maim anyone I believe in the art of fighting without fighting. I heard a story about a Karate guy showing off to his girlfriend once and cracking the back of his head with them and dying. This is a sad tale but goes to show how dangerous they can be in the wrong hands.
