For those of you who have actually been in (multiple) street fights, I was wondering, how long did the fights last?

Hmm, I haven't been in multiple street fights before, but the one I was in, it lasted like 3 seconds or something. It ended before it even started, if that makes sense.
But I do know for a fact that (most) street fights that occur randomly, are not like what you see in the Jet Li movies where two guys fight until tomorrow. It starts and ends very quickly.

I did not get into any fights but I saw a lot of fights. One of these fights ended in five seconds. This was between a boxer and wrestler in my high school which offered both sports. The wrestler gave the boxer one hard slam on solid ground and the fight ended before it even stared. The other was in the lockers. This kid got jumped my two brothers. The kid who got jumped was a little bigger than the other two. The bigger kid took the smallest of the two and slammed his head in the lockers. That kid was out for two minutes at least. Then the bigger kid fought with the other brother. It lasted for like half a minute before the coach came in. Like the kid said above they do not last long.

Interesting. That's been my experience as well. But I was talking to someone today who told me that most fights he's been in have lasted over an hour... and we live in the same town.
It's kind of like when people say your opponent is always armed and there are always multiples, which hasn't been my experience either. (Which ISN'T to say one shouldn't train for those situations.)
Anybody ever been in a fight or witnessed a fight that lasted more than a couple minutes?

The average gun fight is 7 seconds, at 7 yards, with 3 rounds fired.
The average knife fight is 3-7 seconds, if both are combative, which if rare, the knife is most often used to stab either a distracted or unaware opponet.
The average "fist" fight (for lack of a better term) Is 90 seconds. This takes into account the playground, fall to the ground, call each other bad names thing.

What about like, group fights or gang violence? I remember observing a fight from a roof I was on (don't ask) where it really did last several hours. There was one altercation, and then one guy went and got his friends, and then the other group got more friends, and on and on and on... It wasn't constant fighting the whole time but I bet from start to finish it was at least an hour and a half, plus another hour or so for the cops to finish taking out the street trash.

Saw an Interesting street fight one, between 6 guys and one. Surprisingly the singled out guy had a Nunchuk tucked at the back of his jacket. When the fight got heated (verbally) he drew it out and in a single hit broke the jaw of one of the 6 guys. A few Michelangelo
Tricks with the Nunchuk scared the other 5 away. The whole fight lasted less than 3 seconds, the singled out guy had an impressive style of fighting .

Depends
It varies wildly... on the situation, the people you're dealing with, and where you are.
I've been in and seen fights with friends after a simple argument that lasted a minute with both not really intending on hurting each other and just wanting to get some agression out.
I've seen been in and seen fights where there were weapons involved, both parties having or one having the other being unarmed, and those have also varied. They are the particularly brutal ones.
The shortest fights are those that are emotionally charged and are doomed from the outset... getting jumped by 6 dudes or getting sideswept outa the blue and waking up a couple minutes later.
The quickest fight I personally ever got into was in a nearby park. My brother had come home practically in tears after having been smacked around by someone for not giving him the whole court. I went down there pretending to talk up the guy who did it(there were 3 guys) and immediatly after the one who did it starting bragging. I told him the kid was crying and it was the funniest thing i had ever seen and he starting bragging some more. I then went to give him daps, and when I pulled away, I put a right cross to his nose and knocked him out(not cold, he kept asking what happened in a groggy voice). Between me hitting him, and him hitting the ground and me starting to walk away... probably 5 seconds passed.
My longest fight ever was with my boy over a football game lol.

The biggest gang fight I've ever seen was at Providence Place Mall where PSB(Rrovidence street boys) and OR(Oriental rascals) fought after 2 members saw each other in the movie theatere in Providence Place. They fought... were broken up, then called people, fought and were broken up, then the whole set from each side came and there were literally hundreds fighting on both sides(police reports confirmed it) throughout the whole mall, untill shots rang out and everyone bounced.

Famous Karate Kid quote....
Daniel: Hey, what kind of belt do you have?
Miyagi: Canvas. JC Penney, 3.98; You like?
Daniel: [laughs] No, I meant...
Miyagi: In Okinawa, belt mean no need rope to hold up pants.
Miyagi: [laughs; then, seriously] Daniel-san,
Miyagi: [he taps his head] Karate here.
Miyagi: [he taps his heart] Karate here.
Miyagi: [points to his belt] Karate never here. Understand?
hmmm i saw 1 second fight its becoz when a fighter starts to grab this guy...maybe he knews karate coz the way he punch is straight and then he hit his throat and the opponent feels the pain and laid down i think he was hurt badly...

Unless its a gang fight in the middle of nowhere where 100+ people are fighting then its impossible. Usually 10 seconds in a fight one guy is swelled up too much to be able to go on. An hour+ fight, hell a 10 minute+ fight in the street would result in death probably, and people will break it up whether you like it or not, whether they call the police or do it themselves.
