I know a lot of people get intimidated but personally I'm just not afraid of the man in the boat

As far as the street is concerned, there is no referee to decide what is fair and what is not. Though many of the same strikes, kicks, and holds could apply to the street, you may be facing a multiple attack or a guy who is high on PCP and feeling no pain. While the ring is a dangerous place, the street is much more unpredictable and because of that, much more dangerous. strinkes in the street must serve a purpose and that purpose is to incapcitate your attacker as quickly as possible because after five minutes you don't get to go to your corner, after five minutes you could be dead.

Imagine two guys on the Titanic.

One is a sports swimming champion. He can power out Olympic times at the front crawl, breast stroke, back stroke and butterfly. He is also a championship diver! When that ship hit that iceberg he performed a beautiful swallw dive and away he went.... until the cold killed him.

The other guy is a life guard. Yes, he can swim pretty well too, but nowhere near as well as our sportsman. But get this. He knows how to make his trousers into a buoyancy aid.... he also knows where the lifebelts are and how to lower the lifeboats.

Which guy would you rather be?
Its basically another case for working smarter and not harder.

The guy watching the ThaiBri's Titanic re-enactment sitting in a somewhat chilly movie theatre sipping on a coke.

Why not work harder and smarter?

Embrace the boat Ju. It is your friend. You must develop the balance and become master of the oar.

There is finally an answer to the question of all those wide stances!

Where have we heard that before?
This coming from a guy who got slapped in the mouth by a man who he didn't know, but stood there speechless until he got the opportunity to "suplex" the guy after he slipped but supposedly pulled a knife. :rolleyes

This is par for the course on this site. A bunch of punks who fantasize about what they'd do in a real fight but know better than to actually ever risk being in one. That's why "avoidance" is the only theme you idiots seem to be able to discuss on Defend.

There's always someone bigger, badder and more prepaired to fight.

It doesn't mean you don't prepare yourself, but I don't think its necessary to go looking for trouble to prove whether you can fight.

If I have to fight, I will. I've done it before, allbeit not against people who were top notch combat athletes or a serial killer (thank God).

                            Fighting is a last option.

I think this is a great site, and folks who dislike it so much would probably be happier somewhere else.

Don't take it too seriously, the guy you were responding to has obviously never been in anything closer to a real fight than role-playing and goofing around with magic markers in 'SD' class.
