    Let me clarify,

When you are angry your body's reaction is to tense all over causing the all the muscles to flex and drawing power away from your strikes because there is a muscles pulling that shouldn't be.
I fully agree with this statement. I was referring to a problem I see in some students who lack the “wiliness to engage” rather it is an opponent out in front of them or a pad feeder. SOME students lack that “willingness” and getting them to emotionally engage helps them ramp up from 0-1000mph in a controlled way and they actually hit the pads, target, or opponent harder. But not every one has that problem.

Care to expound on that a little bro? I'm sure everybody is waiting with baited breath for something with a little more substance. I know I'd sure like to here some empirical evidence as to why a C.I.A. polygraph test administrator is close but not on the mark because that's were I got my info from.

So there is the method I mentioned and the ways to cheat it and then one other one, but as you said and I'll assume you saying it means you agree, it's still about control.

If a person can't control his emotions in a fight how is he going to control anything as complicated as a high stress SD situation or even the motor skills used to fight with.

Also I noticed you mentioned "Among the things measured are changes in blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, and perspiration."

They measure this by asking a control question one that they know to be either true or a lie and they use these measurements to gauge what the outcome of your answers are.

I said "The person running the lie detector will read the measurements of stress and heart rate during control questions "

The only difference I see is that I used simpler terms for some of the less word savvy people on the forum.

Break it down one time weeky weeky old skool

So anger causes stress, stress causes tension, tension causes the body to work improperly. When the body does not react to our commands properly due to the tension caused by stress, which was caused by the aforementioned anger, we cannot provide the proper power for striking. The fact that anger/stress causes a short rush of endorphins ( like adrenaline) into the body is why a mom can lift a car to save her child.

If we expound upon the endorphin and research a little more we find that they cause severe fatigue on the muscles of the body. While anger may give you a short boost of energy it can also cause uncontrollable shaking (which leads to less muscle control) as well as weakness in the limbs only a few minutes into the rage attack.

Now anyone who knows anything about proper punching technique know it takes muscle control to punch properly. Therefore if anger cause less control in muscles due to the chemicals the body is releasing in relation to the mood swing you cannot punch with proper power when angry.

Everyone on this forum has agreed vehemently that fine motor skills go out the window in a high stress situation even when trained and prepared for so anger is only going to take down even more of your fighting ability on top of that.

I agree with KOTF that we should try to keep a cool head during stressfull situations. You need your body to fight or run, not to waste energy.

I've allways found that when I get really angry I become very loose, and my punches are much more hard and snappy. Kicks go to crap though. But yeah if i punch my bag while angry, I certainly hit it harder with a much better sounding "pop".

That's slightly odd because it goes against all research subject mtter done on anger and how it effects the body. Concentration can sometimes be confused with anger.

Maybe I dont get angry then. When I was younger I used to get angry a lot and it just made me piss weak. Now if I get angry though, I become really calm, I never lose it. I am angry but in control. Either that or I end up punching the closest inanimate object and that can hurt if its the wall. I dont do that anymore but I am so lucky I have never broken a knuckle yet.

I came to that conclusion when I was about 22 some stuff just aint worth getting worked up over. Sometimes you just can't do anything about a situation and most of the times it's your own stupidity that put you there in the first place.

Haha! Yeah its a good conclusion to come to yeah? I see some people that still get angry over everything and frustrated, it never helps and usually screws the situation over more. Oh prime example of my angrer working with me, I never get overly angry though, anywho Just a lil while ago i was sparring my friend and he kicked me really hard in my arm and my elbow went "click" I didnt necessarily get angry but kinda went "arrrggghhhh, how dare you make me feel pain!!" so with my other hand (my right one) i went hook, hook, backfist, and then kicked him out of the circle we drew on the ground. Fun fun! anyway the speed i did the hooks with was as if i was alternating hands though i wasnt, most people when angry or anything like that become slower. I become faster and more aggressive. Aggressiveness is usually somthing I lack.
