So Tant tell me what is mature? What course of action is considered to be mature?

I'm directing this to you because out of everyone here other than Tom Yum you are a model of maturity in my eyes.

Why thanks! (suck up) Maturity is relative. Getting old is unavoidable. Maturity is a choice.

Doing the right thing when no one is looking... Being the role model...

Sometimes you laugh out loud, sometimes you just sigh.

No sense in getting all emotional about perceived attacks.

Except that 95% of ma teachers are still teaching stretching and core strength exercises that would get them thrown out as coaches by most good university sports departments. Comparing the recommendations in Kurz's "Science of stretching" (scientifically proven, universally accepted by sports science departments) with the voodoo taught in most ma classes is scary: the wrong sort of stretching is usually taught, usually early in the class so that it can mess up proprioception and increase the chances of serious injury. And at least in the UK a lot of ma classes are still doing situps in the belief that they are an ab strength exercise.

Athletic base in terms of combat athletics. A solid foundation in Muay Thai, Boxing and Submission Grappling.

Not bad stretching or incorrect sit-ups.

                  Or Voodoo.

it started as a good thread. because im new, i have no idea what happened...

i think the trend towards 'combatives' and realistic or more effective training is a damn good thing. it is great to be alive during a period when so many different styles and systems of self defense and fighting are all mixing together and in essence 'evolving'.

this has never happened before mass aircraft travel and it will continue to happen. the trend towards more effective combat sport systems and combatives is good and i really hope it keeps up.
