First of all I have trophies from performing Kyokushin katas in tournaments. Some of them come from the Empire State Nationals which is held every year in Long Island New York. I guarantee I would outpoint you in EVERY ASPECT of kata. In FACT, if your anywhere near NY I will enter whatever form divsion you choose as long as its traditonal forms in any tournament and blow you out of the water. Just tell me when and where.
I would like to see you refute ANYTHING I've said. You can never do that. On top of that, other people on this topic were WAY harsher towards form than I was. Your making yourself look like a pimple faced kid who likes to whine.
Let me give you some points and then YOU can tell me how I'm wrong.
#1 Hitting ACTUAL TARGETS builds ACCURACY. Forms do NOT.
#2 Hitting ACTUAL TARGETS teaches you the concept of DISTANCE. Forms do NOT.
#3 When hitting a heavy pad or thai pads you can move your feet REALISTICALLY, the same way you should if you were faced with a real person. The stances of traditional forms are NOT used in a real situation.
#4 Hitting ACTUAL TARGETS build POWER. Striking the AIR builds JACK SHIIT.
We could go ON and ON and ON. Everything I've said is FACT. You just don't like it.
Personally, your opinion means less than nothing to me. Only a child or an idiot would tell me I'm "rude" and then when I make a perfectly valid point they whine and squeak at me like Revenge of the Nerds in a Gi. At least when I make an argument I use valid points to make one.
Your just an idiot who lives in mommy's house and plays too much Tekken on your Playstation 2.
I made a very honest and respectful post about kata's effectiveness as far as COMBAT goes. If you wan't to call names and be immature then I can oblige you.

To tell you the truth I don't think kata are really good for too much anymore. At one time it would have been different, but martial arts in general has evolved above the need for kata. Kata is a way to study for people that are unable to perform a more fruitful activity. It's also good for children because it teaches them focus and discipline.
If your able to practice other techniques and are interested in martial arts for self defense and physical conditioning than there are just alot better things to do than a pre-set list of movements that you would never use in the first place.
If you LIKE doing it and its fun for you then thats another reason all together.

Shaolin is talking loud and walking proud. You go, Shaolin! Your enthusiasm is impressive, but you didn't learn anything from your training if you think kata has no contact.
Dude, here's how you train kata for real. Take the kata Saipai, for example, its got about 6 arm bars and throws in it. Now to train Saipai, I first worked on internals for 2 or 3 years. You probably don't believe in internals, so lets just skip ahead. Onto the stuff you like, the blood and gore.
I train with a tournament level groundfighter and grappler on analysis of the kata movement. We break each movement down into branch points, where you can either go for the break or the throw and train each at increasing speed. Then we spar, full on, on the mats, but I must only use those kata movements to defend with. You end up cut and bruised and dislocated, but thats real kata.
So the shite you see at tourneys is mostly young guns who are looking pretty and snappy. If you want to go further in this discussion, constructively, I can get you started by analyzing some of the kata you have used in tourneys to win points with. There are hidden movements there, in fact I am surprised with this much experience that you think that full contact slop contributes to development. Full contact only injures you, there is time for full contact, and that is when your life is in danger.
Kata training should include heavy bag work, grappling and throwing techniques, applications against blunt and edged weapons and one should work on 1 kata at a time, or maybe 2, but for at least 3 years.
If you disagree with anything I've said, lets continue. I have no stake in this, if you like kata good, if you disrespect it, good. Its all the same thing to me, but I can offer my experience.
Cheers and happy holidays mate.
