Any women who really wished to learn about real self defense that any women can use should visit schools like hers. When last I spoke to her she told me that she was retired nowadays from injury, but Model Mugging is a great way to go. Their training endows a women with the fighting attitude and spirit that makes them refuse to lay down and be a victim, and gives women simple tools and practical, gross motor methods to defend themselves and get out of harm's way.
I took Model Mugging classes. In fact I took several. Then I went and tested out everything I learned against guys who trained MMA and only about 10% of it worked against real resistance. They helped me find modifications that, with practice, were higher percentage moves.
I'd equally like to know how women feel about basically being told that they have no alternative but to lay down and let rapists with a weapon have their way, because that's exactly what Jubaji and Sag Lu's say anyone honest with themselves HAS to do.
No, but I am saying that if they're facing a rapist with a weapon they have to decide whether it's worth their life to fight back. Whether it is or not is a personal question that's up to each individual to make. Most rapes aren't also murders...
I'd also like to hear what the ladies think of Uke's attitude and turn of phrase in post #107.

Its just that Jubaji has to focus on the fact that I wrote "tang" as a euphemism for sex and ignore everything else that he can't respond to. So to make it seem like he's contributing here Jubaji picks what little tidbit he can zero in on to pretend like this is a dialogue instead of a venue for him to vent his passive aggressiveness. That is until he goes full blown with curses and icons.
Anyway, even females can fight back when there is a weapon or a stronger person attacking them. The real blasphemy here is the defeatist attitude that some people spread and the time they spend trying to convince others that there is no other alternative but running and luck.
This woman(Melissa Solat aka Dr Ruthless) is probably the most well known and respected proponent of women's self defense in America. Her methods mostly adhere to the principles that I've discussed here on this site. She, like most real self defense practitioners, knows the value and importance of the element of surprise, which cannot be achieved by taking a stance or posturing up, or shoving to create room to low roundhouse kick and jab from.

Everyone has options. Anyone telling you otherwise is either full of crap or doesn't know any better.
I'm not going to bother repeating myself on the intent of my posts but something amazing has happened. I'm pretty sure Uke just agreed with the principal point that I was trying to make in all this. I'd also like to hear some actual women weigh in on this... after all this is the WSD forum.
I never said anything disrespectful about Leon or his dad. I don't need proof that small circle jujitsu works because I know it works. I have a second degree Black Belt in Traditional Jujitsu. I've always had respect for Small Circle Jujitsu and I respect Leon as the "Inheritor" of Wally Jay's Legacy. You left me confused with this post????????
I never said that you said anything disrespectful about anyone. I was responding to:
I know of Professor Jay. He is about 95 now. I met his son Leon at a seminar he was giving in Pennsylvania. He is hooked up with George Dillman and Leon was demonstrating a No Touch knockout.
I didn't mean to come off abrasive towards you, but I was asking if you have ever gotten on the floor with Leon. Jubaji had previously stated that small circle only works in the dojo, and then the only mention you made of Leon was that he was doing (god help him) Dillman's no touch KO's. Its possible that I took the above quote as a reflection on the effectiveness of his jujitsu. I didn't think it was a big deal though.
I didn't think I accused you of being disrespectful or even of writing something discourteous, but after re-reading it did appear like I was challenging you to experience it if you hadn't already. I still would if you haven't. Classical jujitsu is a bit different than the execution of Jay's small circle and small joint manipulation seems to be their specialty.
I notice that Hardball says he knows of Leon Jay. Did you get on the mat with him, Hardball? Why not go up to the man and tell him to prove to you that small joint manipulation works? That isn't disrespectful. Its just telling him that you don't believe in what he does and you'd be willing to see if he could do it to you while you resist and fight back. That's where the proof would have been, not on an internet site when you had the opportunity to find out for yourself in person. I can tell you that you would be a believer had you stepped up and spoke. Leon is a gentleman, but he's his father's son and he would have gladly shown you as he carries an impressive amount of ability with him.
That's the difference between knowing and making excuses for why you didn't go and find out for yourself.
Hardball, if your excuse for not finding out for yourself boils down to Leon showing what he and his father learned from Dillman(and I too think Dillman's KO stuff is fraudulent) then that's faulty logic.
Many people here still study JKD after Bruce Lee said that FMA was crap and had no place in JKD. Yet JKD has Inosanto's FMA all through it. People all over also idolize Bruce Lee even though he supposedly created a death touch called the floating punch. I've asked around on this site and nobody especially JKD practitioners want to talk about that.
Still, no one puts down JKD despite those claims. Couple all that with the fact that Bruce Lee and James Yimm came to Professor Jay to learn grappling and specifically his small circle methods and you've got yourself a painted picture, kiddo. Don't cha think?
Get on the mat with Leon first. Then come back and tell the story.
