I would love to have a boyfriend who is into martial arts just because it would be easier for him to understand my passion for MA and ohhh the fun that can be had if he shared that interest with me! I love going to tournaments, they're so much fun and it would be super to have a loved one go with me...primarily when you have to drive many hours to those...it's not fun driving alone!
I had a bf who was into TKD as well but unfortunately he turned out to be a jerk
"was wondering if chicks dig guys who are martial artists. i know some do, but i dont know what females in general think about martial artists."
it really depends on the girl. i mean, i know some who are like "really? do some kung fu for me!" (of course, southern praying mantis, being what it is, isnt the best pick up art, so i ususally use my tai chi for the demonstrations.)
i know some who are like "oh, thats cool, next subject"
and some who are like "eww, that is so typical male stuff, that is so primative and unattracive."
usually its the hulking girls, the insecure ones and the hot ones that like martial arts. the hulking ones because they probably beat people up too, and violence fascinates them. the insecure ones because you can protect them from any guys who wish to hurt them, and the hot ones because if any guy tries to rape them or somthing, youll protect them.
then there are some phsychos (sp?) who dont mind them, and the regular down to earth ones that dont mind-dont like them. girls in general however dont like violence or braggers, so try to keep the "i can kill anybody with one punch" thing to a minimum.
the only time i tell a girl that i take martial arts is if they do too (its a great way to start conversation, and never hesitate to demonstrate grappling techniques either......ya know what i mean?) also, if they ask somthing like "im so insecure, will you protect me?" then feel free. also if they ask.
sorry that was long, but i hope you people gathered somthing from it.

Well, my wife has zero interest in martial arts. But I think my training in MA was the reason she was interested in me.
When we met, I was 23 and she was 38. If I'd been an average 23 year old, she wouldn't have looked twice at me. But because of my maturity (which I attribute in large part to my MA training), she thought I was in my early to mid 30s.
But she said that what she really found attractive about me was my self-confidence. Which is definitely due to my training.
Do guys dig chicks who are martial artists ?
Let's see....a confident, fit, open minded woman who can probably take care of herself and is into doing different things.
All I can say is taht if she has more veins than me, I'm out.
You're talking about the actress Angelina Jolie. I'm talking about the character in the old school video game "Tomb Raider." I chose the character because she is almost a caricature of the current (or at least my) beauty standard: busty, very slim muscular waist, curvy (but not fat) Glutes, long, slender, muscular legs and of course perfect hair and the Anna Nicole Smith face.
I'm genuinely beginning to wonder if this is the proper forum for this thread...
Except maybe Mr. fixit guy - frustrated gal, or maybe no gal
Mr.fixit guy doesn't really need a gal cause he can do anything. seriously. He has the intuition of Professor from Gilligan's Island and the know-how of BA Baracus from the A-Team.
Truth be told, skinny girls are not genetically pre-determined to have Lara Crofts dimensions.
Genetically, shmenetically.... that's what they make doctors for...

Truth be told, skinny girls are not genetically pre-determined to have Lara Crofts dimensions. I don't buy into what Hollywood thinks is attractive; call me a rebel, but I find real women attractive, the kinds you run into at the grociery store ala Central Market, the kind you meet at your friend's wedding, the secretary at your customer's office etc.
Hey man, I respect the fact that you are married. This is just a hypothetical discussion.
There are different kinds of beauty that a woman can possess.....(I'll pause so some of the lurking women can get their notepad..jj..actually I need a coffee refill)
Personality - This absolutely makes or breaks a woman's attractivity and has to be a good match to her man's.

The problem lies in women who try to fit into media standards of beautiful.
You may consider this a devil's advocate response if you wish...
I think that the media standard of beauty, while possibly not exceptionally healthy for women/girls, is pretty dang sexy. I would prefer having women aspire to look like Lara Croft (the tomb raider protagonist) than having them look the opposite. I am not saying that women who are shaped otherwise or spend less time on their hair or skin are intrinsically worth less, I am just saying that I find the former more appealing, and am hence happy that so many women strive towards the media standard.
It's kinda like every tree in the forest trying to be the most beautiful. Not every tree will make it, but the forest will be better for the effort.
Of course I don't notice any of that stuff anymore since I'm married...
I won't even get into weight classes for fear of being publicly thrashed... I'm not really a jerk, just stirring things up...
You know, some women are sensible about their build and the secret 3 digit number.
I've met some great ladies who don't have the build of a Tyra Banks (and they shouldn't, because their not in any way genetically related to her), but who are very active in different sports, take good care of themselves and look good. There's no point in trying to look stunning.
The problem lies in women who try to fit into media standards of beautiful. As for Tom Yum, I am a 'girl next door' kind a guy and I know 1,000s of other guys who think like me.
