anyway a jacket is great gift since it also make a fair weapon in a fight! does your style teach anything like the fighting techniques from silat that use the sarong? if so the jacket can be a great field expediant sarong. if not you should learn a little silat and expand your horizons.

Why would'nt you be able to wear it in class?

It's perfectly respectful. Any martial arts instructor should be proud to have a student in class with such an appropriate alternative uniform.

I took a few classes once where we all had to dress alike... but we wore plaid skirts, white button down shirts, and knee socks.
